A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 9-24-08

With all the news focused on the economy and the President’s speech tonight, you may have missed the big news from Iraq:

The country that was once “on the brink of civil war”,

The country that defeatist Democrats like Harry Reid wrote off as “lost”,

The country that Senator Joe Biden wanted to divide into three ethnic-based regions (video from September 8, 2008—Biden brags: “My plan to partition Iraq is working.”)

That same country UNITED PEACEFULLY today to overwhelmingly pass a Provincial Election Law that will allow new elections to take place between now and January 31, 2009. The law will also give Iraqis more freedom in choosing their representatives.

President Bush congratulated the Iraqi Parliament for reaching this milestone in becoming a self-sustained democracy (Transcript)

Today's action demonstrates the ability of Iraq's leaders to work together for the good of the Iraqi people and represents further progress on political reconciliation. I congratulate the members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives for coming together to pass this significant legislation.

In other news, President Bush discussed free trade with Western Hemisphere leaders today at the Council of the Americas in New York City. (Transcript) and met with President Tony Saca of El Salvador (Transcript)

The President returned to the White House this afternoon where he will deliver a televised statement on the economy tonight at 9pm EST.

Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Gov. Sarah Palin was also in New York City today meeting with the leaders of Iraq, Pakistan, India and the Ukraine.

He may have been replaced by The Wall. The very wide, very tall man who I’ve noticed a little bit in recent photos.

Thanks for the Dose, jonny.

I think only Lincoln and Roosevelt had tougher presidency’s than our W’s. God bless him, he has had the most important decisions to make in the last 60 years.

I actually updated my blog this week and I wrote about a strange and funny encounter at the grocery store that is oddly tied into this topic (cleavage).

excellent hairstylist...

Agree with everything you say about how she dresses and her makeup, but tend to disagree about her hair. I don't know, but I think she'd be even more attractive with something a little more professional. Having it hanging down around her shoulders is not the best look imo for a Vice President. Her hair is very shiny (lucky her), but since it is that shiny it also runs the risk of looking a little unkempt. Her up-do is great---dated, but great.

Agreed, but long hair is in...no matter your age. Not my rules, but the fashion of today. She looks good both ways, to me.

I'm back--I had to read about cleavage ;)

I was asking myself why didn't I go in the line where the gay guy who looks like Doug Henning was working the register.

LMAO!!!

LOL! Thank you! :)

I didn't know who to include next ... Huey Lewis seems too obvious :)

Thanks, Deb :)

I'm glad the President spoke tonight. As usual, under incredible pressure, he did a fine job.

He does! He's really weird, too. The grocery store is like beacon for all the area weirdos. I bought brown eggs once. He picked them up and said, "Brown cage-free eggs?!?! Now I've seen everything!" Like they were the most absurd thing ever to come through his line.

There is this other guy who we call, "The Undertaker." He's like the undertaker in all 50's/60's movies. Tall, thin, unsmiling, and like every word is an effort to get out.

Me too I think that would be an excellent improvement if with upgrading the servers etc they added an edit button to the software.

I agree. The burdens this man has had to carry would have crushed a weaker person. We take him for granted.

Hmmm....I don't know what else you like to listen to besides who you've got pictured and Huey. There's a certain Australian guitar player who's about 3'6" and fancies the school boy look who might be interesting. ;-)

"Brown cage-free eggs?!?! Now I've seen everything!"

LOL!! Is this store Whole Foods?

Rush was talking about Whole Foods today. He said someone on his staff, who has a Sarah Palin bumper sticker on her car, stopped by the store and when she came out there was some weird anti-Palin note left on her windshield.

Nobody hassles me at Walmart.

Well except for one cashier that gave me a weird look that time ;)
