Donna Brazile: No Need for Nominees to Show Leadership on Bailout Bill
NewsBusters ^ | September 25, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

It looks like the Democrats are shocked by a nominee who actually takes the initiative to show some leadership in the economic bailout bill as evidenced by the reaction of Democrat activist and CNN political contributor Donna Brazile. Appearing on a panel yesterday hosted by Campbell Brown which also included Gloria Borger and Tony Blankley, one could almost hear the song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy," in the background as Brazile assured us over and over that "progress" on the bailout was being made so there was no need for the nominees to appear in Washington except to passively cast a vote. Here is a transcript of the proceedings (emphasis mine):

Donna’s mind has always been a vast waste land.

That’s what I was thinking. If she’s against the candidates going to Washington and “showing leadership” on the issue,

you know that such action would be helpful to McCain / harmful to 0bama.

Since Donna Brazile is annoyed, that means McCain did the right thing.

“Both are senators.”

I think that is far more important than that they are candidates. They were elected to represent their constituents, and that is still their job. If they can’t put their personal ambitions on hold for a couple days to do the job they were elected to do, how can we look to them to lead in a higher office?

They both should be there because they are being paid by the taxpayers to be the Senator of their states, AZ & IL!
That is what John McCain should have said. “I am running for president but I am still a senator from AZ representing my constituents and I am going to do that!”
I still think these people who run for another office should have to resign their positions so their constituents are being represented full time!

‘still think these people who run for another office should have to resign their positions so their constituents are being represented full time!’ - or at least give up the salary they are not earning.

After the deal is made on this bailout thing. McCain should make a big grandstand play like this:

He should call on all elected representatives who have received money from the guilty companies and organizations to return that money. If the source of the contribution is no longer in existence, then they should give the money to the U. S. Treasury instead.

Then he should lead the way by giving his $26,000, or whatever, to the U. S. Treasury, and call on voters and other citizens to demand their pres follow suit.

0 would soil his panties and squeal like a stuck pig. (So would Dodd.)

I agree with you. Sen. McCain made the right decision and as always, the Democrats look petty and partisan.

Donna Brazile: No Need for Nominees to Show Leadership on Bailout Bill.

Yes IGNORE the fact that both nominess are actually paid US Senators (Lawmakers)
Yes Why worry that the nominess would not show leadership in the single most important issue facing the Nation 30 days prior to the election.
Spoken like a true partisan that understands her candidate lacks the experience and knowledge to deal with the issue and is seeking cover for him.........

(The thing that chaps my @ss is that ZerObama says we need a president who can do more than one thing at time...while demonstrating through his actions that he is only doing ONE thing at a t time...campaigning. (At least until Bush called his bluff.) But what chaps me is that the media doesn’t call him on it.)

Why would the Media not calling their candidate on an issue bother you? Have they called him on any other issue? No. So get used to it and deal with it. Adapt Improvise and Overcome..........

It is ironic that the party that gave us this mess seems poised to benefit most from it.

I agree wholeheartedly, nobama and ALL the dims all have the “bank heist” dye all over them. Nobama must figure that if sticks his head in the sand, somehow eveyone will think he is innocent.

Hopefully McCain will make a big issue of the dims vote in 2004 per Fanny/Freddie changes so more Americans will see this scam for what it really is. For certain the MSM is doing their best to hide it.

It is not up to you, Donna...President Bush and Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson personally requested that McCain come to Washington to assist. Now, be a dear and go take your meds, sit down, STFU and let the sane people handle this.

Maybe not. Word today is it’s a done deal. If McCain rushes back to DC just in time have them announce that, he will look like a fool. He’s being played.
