Their bias is clouding their eyes. Calls from conservatives were running 4/100 for the bailout, ie 96 percent of conservatives didn’t want it. McCain needs the base and McCain opposing Bush is not a bad thing for McCain, it’s a good thing.
Even some dems know they don’t want a bailout in it’s present form.
McCain is gambling again, living up to his image as a “maverick.” The press is missing the point...but that’s okay.
Will it work in the long run, I don’t know, but it’s worth a try, IMHO.
How long before the McCain campaign comes out with an add pointing out how Obama and Dems are wanting to side with the president on his economic solutions while McCain is about CHANGE!
I think it’s hilarious that the Democratic pundits and Congress are now not only defending Bush but advancing his plan. LOL
Soon, the dumbed down democratic base will start yelling that they have enough votes to pass it, just get it done. Who cares what the House Republicans or McCain does?
I just want the House republicans to hold tight, they have their thumbs in the dyke . They are like David and Goliath..........and we kow who won that one.
Dawn—You’re right. McCain is running as a maverick, not a pubbie. Just as Palin took on and beat the Alaskan republican machine, it’s a good thing for McCain being seen as taking on Bush. Dems are having a very hard time getting it in their ideologically constrained brains that Bush is not running for president.
With one stroke McCain has shown leadership, separated himself from Bush even more than before, put dems on defensive for many news cycles and has nicely set up his inevitable debate with Onada.
AP’s story about Bush is presented as McCain negative, but it confirms he is not just like Bush. This is so cool because there are so few days left for campaigning. Dems will be hard pressed to mount any meaningful counter attack. The debate should seal it for McCain. Onada’s smarty pants quip “call me if you need me” quip should enable McCain to take control of the debate.
It will be interesting to see how the debate moderator tries to help Onada demonstrate a modicom of relevancy.
The RATS have the votes to pass the full $700 billion bailout. McCain and the GOP should let them, if the RATS won’t embrace the necessary changes.
We’ll take the $700 billion issue to the taxpayers for the next 5 weeks and hang it around their necks.
Even some dems know they dont want a bailout in its present form.
some? some? everyone hates this thing.
I gave Bush the benefit of the doubt and tentatively supported it because I don’t want the economy to be wrecked. But I hate it now. There’s nothing the MSM can do to change minds and Obama is certainly not helping the bailout cause.
