Kurir ^

Posted on 09/26/2008 9:31:07 AM PDT by kronos77

Tanaskovic brought in village Druzetici daughter-in-law from Skadar, Albania. While older people are surprissed, bachelors from village are inquiring are there more girls willing to com In village. In house of tanaskovic, soon, a Albanian bride will arrive for older son, as well.

Gornji Milanovac, Serbia
After the long years of wishing and secretly hoping that they will finally get daughter-in-law, these days wishes came trough for felthy farmer Radic Tanaskovic(72) and his wife Dusanka. Their son Mico (36) brought in the house a bride Merita from Skadar, Albania, and with little luck, in a few month his brother Rados (44) will bring another bride in the house, Tonja (Tonya) a girl already spoken for him, also from Albania.

“My friend, our household is singing from joy since bride Merita came over doorstep! Anyone can say what they want, but we are overjoyed with Albanian Bride. She is getting along fine with our son, and she respects wife and me so much that it is embarrassing sometimes. She is first up in the morning, cocks coffee, and serve it first to me and my wife, than her brother-in-law and than her husband, she than does all the housework. When she finishes, she goes to work in the field. We dont allow her do fieldwork, we believe that those are not jobs for a bride, but she says that those are her duties. Nothing is hard for her.
Merita looks like our own girls looked like several decades ago, when they were all patriarchal brought-up.

Mother-in-law says:
I don't have a daughter, but i have got one. Merita is a help and relief for all the houseworks. She learned many things in her own house, and what she didn't knew, she asked me to teach her. true, she doesent speaks Serbian yet, but souls can understand each other!
Since Merita came in to the house, sun is shining brighter for us!
....

Her husband says:
“What could I have done other than go to Albania to look for a bride? My friend from the army, Artur, Albanian from Montenegro, came to visit me one day and saw that I'm still unmarried. He offered to help me, to bring a bride from Albania. He knows a nice and honorable girl from Skadar, and she is from nice Catholic family, and willing to marry a Serb Orthodox. My brother rados and I sat on the train and went to Albania, in the house of Marticanaj family. When her family graded me that I am good for her daughter, all was set.

There are more and more people that are coming to Merita and me asking her does she have a girlfriend or a cousin ready for marriage.

Don’t try to tell Freepers that Albanians are Nationalists more than religionists. Freepers won’t have it. I have found that this may be the one issue where Freepers believe everything from the MSM and nothing from people who have first hand experience over there.

I’ve been to Albania. Bare midriffs and short skirts on women outnumber headscarves maybe 50-1, of not moreso. You can get a drink any time you want and nobody goes to mosque.

Albanians are, fundamentally, Europeans who just happen to be nominally Muslim. They take their religion about as seriously as does the average Serb or Croat or Italian, these days.

One thing I’ve noticed on this board is that few people here really understand the Balkns. To them, it’s all seen through the black-and-white glasses of religion. The Balkans are much more maddeningly complex than that.

AFAIK, most Albanians want nothing to do with incorporating Kosovo into “Greater Albania”, precisely due to the fact that Kosovo is much more Muslim, than Albania proper. Plus the Tosks pretty much still run Albania, while the Ghegs primarily inhabit Kosovo.

"Don’t try to tell Freepers that Albanians are Nationalists more than religionists."

Actually, even I think that "Albanians are --on average-- more nationalist than religionist".

Yet in Kosovo, I don't think that Serbs and Christian Albanians would have had the same problems that they did with Muslim Albanians. Somehow, I can't picture a Christian Albanian urinating on a destroyed church and sending the photos to his friends.:

However, my experience is that Muslim Albanians are far more politically oriented than the Christian Albanians usually are. Christian Albanians usually just get drug along for the ride.

I lived there, speak both Gheg and Tosk fluently, and worked intelligence issues there for 5 years. Still, when there is a Serb/Albanian, Christian/Muslim thread, Freepers are one-sided and will not hear that Albanians care more about other Albanians than about their religions. I agree that extremists live and work there, but like you said most Albanians don’t care about extremist religions and are mostly secular. They will tell you that flatly because they don’t fear retribution from islamists.

The real problem arises when foreign extremists come into the country and get a hold of youth by money bribing. Their conversions have little to do with faith, and can mostly be attributed to the monetary and food assistance their families receive. In fact it is so bad that most Albanians equate religion with temporal welfare, not spiritual salvation!

In this case, looks like "Merita" is going to be real improvement to the family gene pool, too!

Although, "Mom" here, is probably only 45. HArd life.

I doubt that. This wasn't a single "artwork", this was a photo-op. The news agency who originally ran it, pulled it because they hadn't even noticed the guy urinating in the background. But, Serbs who saw the photo saved it.

If Muslims started destroying 150+ Christian churches in the US and "pissing on them" for the cameras, there would be rioting in the streets -- and a lot of dead Muslims.

"Albanians are a strange people- the clan is the main political structure in much of the country outside of the cities."

And the clans form "a tribe", although everyone is afraid to use that word. Albanians are primarily tribalistic and only secondarily nationalistic -- religion comes in a poor third. They will even kill their own for the good of the clan and ultimately the good of the tribe.

And they are, on average, far more violent than Western Europeans -- and even much more violent than Eastern Europeans. A while back I ran across a House of Representatives report on the connections between organized crime and terrorism, and even they were worried about the "violent young immigrant Albanians" becoming a perfect fit for expanding the Albanian Mafia in the US.

And Albanians feel it their duty to have as many children as possible for the good of the clan and tribe, whether or not they can support themselves or their children or not. During the communist era, this "breeding program" worked out pretty well for them, especially when they could make it across the border into more prosperous communist Yugoslavia. Albanians had the highest birthrate in Europe.

Ultimately, that is what I believe all this Albanian political unrest -- in Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece -- is all about -- Albanians have overbred to the point that they are over-runing other country's lands just to survive. Like some species of animal that overbreeds to the point that it either over-runs other lands or starves, the Albanian tribe feels a need to increase their territory and plant that tribal flag on new land to support even more population growth.

And at a time when the European population is shrinking, global financial interests see Albanians as a "future European workforce" to support aging, dying Europe. International law and ownership rights don't matter anymore, just political and economic outcomes.

It's a grim scenario for all concerned.

I couldn't find any stats for Kosovo, but Albanians in Albania have a fertility rate of about 2 children per woman. That puts them near the top in Europe (with the Nordic countries, surprisingly), but still less than replacement rate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_and_territories_by_fertility_rate

Plus their fertility rate has fallen pretty noticeably in the past 8 years. I don't think your theory holds.

"I couldn't find any stats for Kosovo, but Albanians in Albania have a fertility rate of about 2 children per woman."

Earth Times, 2007:Kosovo - Europe's highest birth rate, smallest GDP

Britannica: In the decades following World War II, the birth rate in Albania was consistently the highest in Europe and the death rate one of the continent’s lowest. Until the 1990s the Albanian population was increasing four to five times faster than the average annual rate in other European countries.....

US Library of Congress, Country Studies (1990's article): The predominantly Albanian Kosovo had the highest birthrate in Europe and one of the highest in the world: 29.9 per 1,000 in 1987. Persons under twenty-seven years old accounted for 60 percent of Kosovo's total population, and students--a reservoir of political ferment--over 30 percent. In 1981 only 12 percent of the Albanian population in Kosovo was employed.

This is what most Americans haven't figured out:

Most Serbs are idealists and romantics, with quite a few cynical failed romantics, but mostly romantics none the less. Sure, they have their share of psychopaths, but they are the exception, not the norm. Serbs believe in "causes" and "ideals", even when it kills them and gets them and everyone around them nothing in return but misery.

But Albanians are complete pragmatists. During the Ottoman reign, after defat, they willingly converted Islam and became the Ottoman's best henchmen. Albanians will kiss the hand of whoever feeds them that moment and the feet of whatever power gives them what they want at the moment. They'll switch religions for a buck, and if necessary, sell you their kid to be used for organ transplants if it nets them a few more bucks. They have no "universal ideals" or romantic notions, nor any long-term allegiances to anyone or anything, other than to their clan and their tribe. If you aren't an Albanian, you don't matter. And if you are an Albanian, you still don't matter as you may have to be sacrificed for the good of the the clan or the tribe

So when Americans see phony "statues of liberty" and American flags raised by Albanians in Kosovo, it's only because we are the power there at the moment and we got them what they wanted. If tomorrow, someone bigger or more powerful came along and offered them more money and prestige, those "decorations" and symbols of America would come down like those from last night's party in favor of the new power's symbols. They'll even play both ends against the middle just to up the price.

It is for this reason, you get scandals like the 22 yr old ripping off the US government for $300B, in an Albanian arms deal, with the Albanian who blew the whistle on the deal, winding up dead.

Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia are in Transparency International's "top five corrupt countries in the world" list. It is for this very reason I believe that our politicians love doing business with Albanians -- what better a place for our tax dollars to disappear into, and for leaving no witnesses to track the crime back to anyone?

Feel free to go to Transparency International's website and pull a link to that list.

Meanwhile, on their 2008 Corruption Perceptions Index, Somalia, Burma, Iraq, Haiti, & Afghanistan come in at the bottom, while Albania is tied with such other countries as India, Madagascar, Montenegro, and... Serbia.

Petard. Hoist. Etc.

You're like Dave Chappelle's Clayton Bigsby, save you're only blind to how everybody else sees you and your stupid prejudices. 9 post Kosovo years of this asinine propaganda campaign against Albanians and what've you got to show for it? Nothing except imparting a better understanding to folks not from the region of just how some of the locals manage to work themselves into such ethnicity centered apoplectic rages that they're capable of forgetting their basic humanity.
