Rasmussen: O 50 - M 44
Rasmussen ^ | 9/27/2008 | Rasmussen

Posted on 09/27/2008 6:41:56 AM PDT by ubaldus

Obama's lead in Ras' tracker is now at 6 points (from 5 pts yday and 1 pt a week ago). Since Rasmussen fixes the party ID breakdown at D +5.5, McCain must be trailing with the independents now.

Imo, the only thing which can make it close is a stock market recovery in October. Probably bailout-induced.

>> do we really think there will be freedom to oppose the Dems in 2012?

these things go in cycles, majorities self-destruct and/or get carried away by economic forces. GOP had a good 12 year run, 1994-2006, British Labor about 10 years in power. Soon both are going to spend some time in the wilderness.

I am not sure about 2012 (who knows, Obama can get lucky on the economy, though I don’t see how); but the Dems will overreach, and they are not going to be on the top forever.

It is preposterous, but if the idiot independents only base their opinions off of NYT editorials and the unchallenged platitudes that came out of Obama’s mouth during the debate, they’ll believe the preposterous and will be just as ignorant as they were before. If they’re functionality illiterate, they’ll just listen to Obama. That’s why McCain should have been on the attack during the first part of the debate. He wasn’t, Obama was.

when you look at other tracking polls (Gallup, Hotline, R2000), Rasmussen is somehwere in the middle.

Any single poll can be off (either methodologically, or due to a bad sample), but right now 4 or 5 tracking polls all agree on Hussein leading by 4 to 7 points.

I remember the media beating the drum day in and day out for months about how bad the economy was.

Until the day after the election where magically, the MSM reported the economy was already getting better! Wow!

I agree.

However, since the country has been moving inexorably 'to the left' for many years now (under both parties),,,,

the real danger is that the movement 'to the left' will now be accelerated.

With Hussein in office---we will have that acceleration ON STEROIDS!! And as we have found--when we move left--it is almost impossible to reverse that movement.

“I suppose I can go ahead and vote for Barr now to send a message to idiots in Washington that I’m tired of choosing between lesser evils.”

Yeah sure, Tech Tom - or as I like to call you, Troll.

Darn right! I get really irritated with conservatives who see everything on our end through rose colored glasses and automatically lampoon everything the enemy is doing instead of paying attention. This is not the 1984 or 1988 election. This isn’t even the 1992 election, but you’re getting warmer if you think it is. The left is treating this like the 1980 election. We cannot afford having the Democrats in control, but we cannot afford another ineffectual Republican running for the presidency either.

Yeah, he’s ahead just like Kerry was ahead. Or Gore.

Hey, it’s the weekend. Time for some football.

The recovery scenario will be someone competent running for the Presidency in 2012 and the Republican minority opposing the Democrats relentlessly up to 2010, assuming they’ll be a position to even do that after the election.

How come I have never been polled?

These polls are a joke and certainly made up to what certain people want them to be.

exactly, he should have attack the Dems as the cause of this mess and wonder why the people would put the same people in charge of the recovery that caused it. But thats not what the campaign did. Instead they let Reid and Pelosi paint him as an old has been annoyance that did more harm than good. No real retort no nothing to stop the tide. Wait until the polls come out early next week to see what i mean. Now don't get me wrong, things can change in a hurry but its not looking good at this point.

My point was that today if you speak against Obama or a Dem, they attack or sue you, what will that be like in 4 years. I doubt this country will be allowed free exchange of ideas without the gestapo-type thugs of the Dem party silencing you. I think this degree of socialist control has never been greater and that will affect any cycles for many years if not permanently—at least for those my age.

Kerry was NEVER ahead in the RCP average in the fall. He was 5-6 pts behind, then narrowed it to 2-3 after the debate, and lost by 2.5.

Right now, McCain is in the same position Kerry was in late September. May be a bit worse actually, since Kerry benefited from the first debate; and at the moment it’s too early to say whether McCain did.

Why is the fact not being made loudly and clearly that the RATS are responsible for Fannie and Freddie? The Rats are responsible and they were the ones who benefited - handing out loans to their voting blocs while some were making insane bonuses. So are they now going to be rewarded for destroying our economy while enriching themselves? If so, we need another country - this one is beyond hope.

YEP Freedom will be fading away till 2012.
Defeatist statements are not appropriate now when the real fight is only beginning.

McCAIN and his staff must begin to UNLOAD ON OUSSABAMA and not firstable on the BUSH administration to which OBSSAMA tries to link him again and again.
He must unload on the Democrap congress and its role in the today crisis.
He should speak of CARTER’s policy in IRAN and of the “iranian revolution” wich began long before the war in IRAK.
He should recall that islamo-terrorism is not the exclusivity of AlQaeda and is not limited to AFGHANISTAN,PAKISTAN ...and Ben LADEN.
He should recall OBAMA’s personal and family ties with american haters who support him.

Probably some defeating comments come from different kind of disheartening trolls.

The fight/race is till the VERY END

Depressing.

Even if you want to say McCain won that debate, it wasn’t a knockout punch, it wasn’t a game changer. Thus, and I hate to say it, its really just a tie.

All these polls tell me is McCain is behind and its been that way ever since the economic crisis started.

Seriously....I have never been polled either. my parents, friends etc. haven't either. They are made up...so we all get in a tither...at least I am counting on that!
I can remember during the bush/gore election, Gore was up like 16% at this time and I was panicking. It was a close election but he was not up by 16% in the end.
