If only. The only way there's ever gonna be one is if withholding goes away. If people had to write those checks themselves, it'd be torches and pitchforks the first payday.
Best you should describe this alleged "conventional" wisdom, perhaps offer a solution, and avoid fire alarm statements.

If this bill, as it is written, passes it will be a loss for the Democrats. If it was a win they would pass it with no Republican support.
More unpopular than the amnesty bill says alot, IMO. Add to it the pork that is being sausaged in at the last minute and McCain wins by a landslide. Look to the final debate for him to tie it all up.
I wish we lived in a world where government intervention was never needed. But this scary stuff.

I’m thinking there’s calls for Dem resignations, such as, I dunno, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd....etc, etc. I’m thinking maybe those being called to resign are allowed to be at the meeting to “defend” themselves.
Might be why the Blackberrys were confiscated but I’ll allow as this might be a stretch.

What is wrong that so many thousands of Americans don't see what is happening? All of these "censorship" actions by the left are becoming more obvious for the direction they are taking us toward socialism.
Obama and his minions are continuing the media censorship practice - with Obama threatening networks if they air negative ads that he doesn't like, calling out journalists and chastizing them for reports he doesn't want heard, etc. Then we have the laws pushed by Obama's campaign and passed in Missouri if one gets caught telling a lie about Obama (and the formation of their "Truth Squads" now in place there). And, of course, there are all the Camps Obama, as you have mentioned now in place across the country where young adults are being brainwashed.
The other part of Obama's government control plan will follow, just watch. Next, the abortion issue. It has been touted as a "woman's right to chose," and peddled that way for years as if it is a freedom. People have fallen for that, not understanding where it is leading. Under Obama and the left-wingers the real socialist plan on the issue of abortion will emerge. If Obama is elected, his position on abortion is already clear - no one should be "burdened" with a child (unwanted or unhealthy). The day will come when the government will decide who should be allowed to have a child, and when...and whose children should be aborted for some reason. (Leftist comments have already been made against Sarah Palin for not aborting her Down syndrome child). After all, these left-wingers will claim that supporting children who would be born "not perfect" for some reason, or whose parents can't afford them, would make them an economic hardship for the government.
So, take away our free speech, take away our rights for child-bearing, take away our right to bear arms and certainly take away all references to anything religious in schools, government, holidays, etc. What next? With leftist leadership in place we might just see our country's name changed to the United Socialist States.
I never thought there would come a day when this threat would be so blatantly before us...and that Americans would support it! Once those of us who learned (and have cherished) our country's glorious history, our fight for our freedoms, our Constitution, the reasons we fought in past world wars, and the tyranny of evil dictators have died out there won't be an America as we know it. The left-wing tainted generation coming up now will be in charge. And these children - in schools right now - have been taught/are being taught to reject America's need for military might, the value of our rights that our ancestors have died for, our forefather's design for a republic, the value of free enterprise and the achievements that can be made by individual entrepreneurs. The government will bury all desire to achieve anything extraordinary for oneself or one's family and the mantra will become the "good of the whole." Life for all will be about the government making all decisions and taking over people's personal responsabilities. People will only be working to supply the government with tax dollars to distribute to those who have no desire to advance themselves. Heaven help our grandchildren.

I wondered about a couple of Luntz’s focus group members. They’re all supposed to be “Independent” voters, in this case, I believe. But they reminded me of seminar callers, who call in to conservative talk shows and claim to be “lifelong Republicans” or “Independents”, but then they spout really left-leaning talking points.

Doubtful. Not only was Cantor one of our guys who manned the barricade in the House during the House summer adjournment, but he’s also been one of the key players in coming up with a Republican alternative to Paulson’s $700 billion giveaway.
