Thanks for the ping!
Hoover: The people urging the bill along are like Warren Buffet (whom I do not trust). She says there is too much panic.
Johnson: Average Germans are not concerned. Democrats have painted themselves into a corner by vilifying Wall Street and now they support an unpopular bailout. Neglected reform. Republicans are “heroes” (his words). Rep conference is not ready to pass the bill, only the leaders.
Unger: This deal is between Paulson and Pelosi.
Hoover. Why do they need the Republicans? If it’s so great, just vote on it and be done with it. Voting yes is political suicide. Principled stand by the Rs.
Johnson: Dems are not getting encouraging calls.
Batchelor: What if Rs block the bill or vote NO en masse?
Hoover: The stock market may go down a lot - I don’t know the right number.
Johnson: Don’t give money to ACORN! Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson bought loans from them. People will be hurt. Rs should hold line otherwise they will be scapegoats.
Batchelor: Bailout is not a done deal. Only the leadership thinks it has a deal, the membership is not going along.
Is Larry Johnson a Democrat? He sounds like a Republican tonight.
Larry Johnson is a puma. He was Valerie Plame’s bunkmate at Camp Perry.
Batchelor: Time’s “The Page” quotes Reid: This has been a bi-partisan approach. Now we have to get the votes.
Johnson: The D’s can pass the bill if they insist, they have a majority. The R’s aren’t ready to jump off the bridge.
Batchelor: Margaret, don’t they understand they won’t get reelected if they vote for the bill?
Hoover: They know that. No the leadership won’t be thrown out for anything. Even the initial lie about the “deal” that wasn’t will be ignored in the flurry of finger pointing. People will vote for someone. There has to be a bill, though.
Batchelor: How can that be? Who will vote for this?
Hoover: Republicans are holding the line and they have to make the bill more reasonable.
Unger: Some kind of bill has to pass. Hard to predict when, might be a few more days. But what if no bill passes?
Batchelor: Anyone who votes NO has a huge advantage.
Johnson: Rs have explosive information about the reform that never happened. Accountability was never applied, though. Rs have to hold to principles.
Unger: It’s a bi-partisan scandal [really?].
Batchelor: The leadership has to make the bill palatable.
Hoover: Right. If no one votes yes, they are all thrown out. [I doubt that.]
Someone just mentioned the CSPAN YouTube clips making the internet rounds showing the Dems as defending the status quo for years while the GOP were working for reform.
Check out his website:
He’s a Hillary supporter who is working to defeat 0bama.
Thanks for all your updates. I like Batchelor’s show because there’s so much information there. No callers to distract his guests helps, too.
Best tagline ever!!
Thanks! It came from this thread:
