From the beginning, the reasons for this immediate 700 Billion Bailout was so laughable, I kept cleaning out my ears to make sure I was hearing the words coming out of the TV correctly!!

For instance, have you ever heard of a company needing a loan to make payroll??

Who would work for such a company??

Are they so stupid, that they believe that the way they run the government is the same way private enterprise run their business??

The only entity that could possibly need a loan to pay their payroll is a government entity!!

Yet, every single cable channel spouted this as a reason we were in need of this immediate bailout. Maybe they figured that those who work for a living and own a small business have no time to pay attention, and everyone else just collects a paycheck, so they have no idea how it works!!

Thanks, and pass the word.

I should have gotten it sidebarred, but it didn’t occur to me until after I hit the “post” button.

We really need somebody with Lexis/Nexis access.

That would really help to pin things down.

And the sickos that voted him back into office after that brothel scandal are either dumber than bricks or just as perverted as he is. (or both)

The same "citizens" who have been sending The Swimmer back to D.C. for all these many years.

Mona Charen :: Townhall.com Columnist
ACORN, Obama, and the Mortgage Mess
by Mona Charen

http://townhall.com/columnists/MonaCharen/2008/09/30/acorn,_obama,_and_the_mortgage_mess

ACORN attracted Barack Obama in his youthful community organizing days. Madeline Talbott hired him to train her staff — the very people who would later descend on Chicago’s banks as CRA shakedown artists. The Democratic nominee later funneled money to the group through the Woods Fund, on whose board he sat, and through the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, ditto. Obama was not just sympathetic — he was an ACORN fellow traveler.

Now you could make the case that before 2008, well-intentioned people were simply unaware of what their agitation on behalf of non-credit-worthy borrowers could lead to. But now? With the whole financial world and possibly the world economy trembling and cracking like a cement building in an earthquake, Democrats continue to try to fund their friends at ACORN? And, unashamed, they then trot out to the TV cameras to declare “the party is over” for Wall Street (Nancy Pelosi)? The party should be over for the Democrats who brought us to this pass. If Obama wins, it means hiring an arsonist to fight a fire.

Effort to Rein In Fannie, Freddie Gains Steam
Treasury Puts Muscle Behind Bipartisan Push for Greater Oversight of Firms

By Jeffrey H. Birnbaum and David Cho Washington Post Staff Writers Wednesday, April 23, 2008; D01

Past fights over efforts to boost regulation have been bare-knuckled affairs. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac assembled two of the most expensive and formidable lobbying operations in Washington and were able to stop almost any attempt at regulation. "They really had this place locked down, and everybody was afraid of them," Hagel recalled.

**ALL : My computer's really dragging .. think I need another drive. The muckety.com site is really nifty .. allows you to put in a name and make a map of their connections..

I did one on Jamie Gorelick.

Click ON THIS and then click on Fannie Mae, and watch it open up. It's interactive. Click on James Johnson, too. You can click on all the icons, and they open up with connected names. Just try them all and see what comes up. You can also add other names to a main search name to see those connections, but my computer is too draggy to do any more.

Maybe some of you will try it for other folks and maybe Jamie Gorelick and Obama, Obama and Soros, Obama and Rezko, etc. ??? Do some sleuthing. You search at the top right to see if there's already a muckety map for that person. Then you just do the < a href = standard posting mode with the link you see in your browser when the map is completed to post it. Please ping me if you do. Thanks!

This is Snowbama's muckety map

This is Penny Pritzker's muckety map

This is William Ayers map

Here's Rezko's map

Here's Jodie Evans' map

WASHINGTON—Superinvestor Warren Buffett plays a double header in Chicago for presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.),headlining not one but two $28,500 per-person raise or give fund-raisers on July 2. Buffett is the draw at a 7 p.m. dinner at the home of Obama national finance chair Penny Pritzker and her husband, Bryan Traubert, also chaired by Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett.

Before that, Buffett shares his financial wisdom with donors at a 90-minute “economic roundtable” hosted by Pritzker, Jarrett, Austan Goolsbee, the campaign senior economic chair and John Rogers Jr., the Obama campaign Illinois co-chair. The event will be at the offices of Rogers’ Ariel Investments.

Dems 2008: Camp Obama sliding Goolsbee under the bus [Karl]

In the wake of the Goolsbee/NAFTA flap, in which Austan Goolsbee suggested to Canadian diplomats that Barack Obama’s protectionist rhetoric on trade might be just for politics, Camp Obama suddenly seems as though they have barely heard of the distinguished U of Chicago economist:

“I think Austan innocently went over there, half as a professor, half as a campaign adviser,” said Obama campaign manager David Axelrod. “He’s basically a volunteer. He’s one of the economists Barack talks to. He’s not in close and constant contact with the candidate.”

This month’s Forbes list of the richest Americans places (Linda) Pritzker’s net worth at $1.5 billion. But in the past 15 years, she has given a mere $13,000 in campaign contributions to federal political committees. This year she changed that pattern, donating $5 million to ACT, including $4.1 million through Sustainable World Corp.

In response to a request for an interview, Pritzker said in an e-mail she “was impressed with the effectiveness of ACT, in encouraging and informing citizens in the voting process. Given that this is a presidential election year I thought it important to support the health of our democracy in this way.” She did not respond to follow-up questions in an e-mail.

One Big Happy Anti-Capitalism Family

http://news.muckety.com/2008/01/30/herb-sandler-and-son-in-law-back-democrats/481

Two California groups, Vote Hope and PowerPac.org, are drawing national attention, and boisterous complaints from opponents, for their support of Barack Obama’s run for the presidency.

Both are operating outside the Obama campaign as 527 organizations, taking advantage of tax-code provisions that exempt them from federal spending limits. And both were founded by Steve Phillips, former president of the San Francisco School Board and son-in-law of billionaire banker Herb Sandler.

Sandler is one of the lucky ones who cashed out before the mortgage crisis. Wachovia bought Sandler’s company, Golden West Financial, for $25.5 billion in October 2006. Forbes estimated his personal worth that year at $1.2 billion.

Like his son-in-law, Sandler is an active contributor to Democratic causes. He gave $2.5 million to Moveon.org in 2004, and has contributed more than $100,000 to the Democratic Senate and congressional committees in recent years.

He is also a backer of the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank headed by John Podesta, Bill Clinton’s former chief of staff.

The Sandler Family Supporting Foundation has supported medical research, with an emphasis on asthma. It also pledged $15 million to Human Rights Watch in 2005.

Sandler also founded a nonprofit journalism organization called ProPublica, which promises to produce “truly important stories with moral force.” ProPublica, based in Manhattan, is run by former Wall Street Journal managing editor Paul Steiger.
