An Investigation Has Started on Fannie/Freddie (AP) -- Now its a SCANDAL (Enron times TEN)
hmv

Posted on 09/30/2008 8:11:22 AM PDT by Hillary'sMoralVoid

Per AP, Freddie and Fannie are facing a Grand Jury as a U. S. Attorney's Investigation is underway.

Folks, this is huge! It is now a SCANDAL, the repercussions of which are TEN to TWENTY times the impact of the Enron Scandal!!!

We need to write to the editors of our newspapers and publicize this every way possible. Of course, we need to trace the money path through Dodd, Frank and company, directly to the annoited one.

Get excited, this is great news!

This is not a congressional panel, but a grand jury investigation. I agree with your sentiment completely, but there is no panel. Gore-lick needs to walk the plank.

I’d feel a lot more confidence in this if the grand jusy was sitting in Oklahoma and not Manhattan.

I’d like to know that, as well. Tell that person to dig deeper than 2007, if they aren’t already! If anyone knows the answer, we need to know. We made our voices heard on the bailout, we should be pushing the investigation to fully represent interests of the People.

I hate to bust anyone’s bubble but they're not going to find anything.

This will nothing more than cover for the RATS and blame for the Republicans.

". . . Freddie and Fannie are facing a Grand Jury . . . ."

Freddie and Fannie are just entities. Shouldn't a person(s) be facing a Grand Jury?

The GOP needs to be out in full force referring to this as a “Democrat scandal.”

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Not gonna happen. Republicans are nice people and don't do things like pointing fingers at the opposition.

this will be slow... As molasses in January after hell hath frozen over.

It involves courts, attorneys and legal process. Only an idiot thinks anything much will come in less than 6 months to 1 year. And all that can come are indictments, which then means more legal process.

Legal reform was something Bush promised back ever so long long ago before he decided that crony capitalism was really the way to advance his place in history.

I wonder, will the Former Governor of New York be involved in the investigation? Will he be questioned? According to Savage, over a month ago, he knows where the bodies are buried. It sure would be interesting if his situation of being caught with his pants down had anything to do with the impending disaster.

Of course it’s a scandal. I was part of a class action suit recently and they just kept rolling. Take them down a la Enron.

but it should start in earnest AFTER the election.

after the election the ones that should be investigated will somehow be forgotten even if Mac wins. The people need to GET IN THEIR FACES and keep this front and center.

Don’t get your hopes up, remember who these US attorneys are. We tried to get rid of the most blatantly partisan for refusing to prosecute Democrats, and look what resulted.

My guess is that they won’t release any information about the investigations until after the election, saying that it is on-going, and then they will dismiss any charges against Democrats of any importance. They’ll find a systemic problem with regulation, but nothing illegal.

I wonder how long this whole thing has been in the planning? Since Bill Clinton did his deregulation laws? It seems like this was all set up for Hillary but for some reason the DNC decided to go with “Plan B” Obama at the last second. I know Hillary was certainly screaming “I’M READY TO LEAD!” She must have known all along. This was supposed to be her ticket to the White House, but she missed the train! I know the Democrats sure did their best to torpedo Mitt, with all his economic abilities. I’m not complaining about Mitt. I think McCain has been underestimated. I’m just making an observation.

Slow as molasses in Janurary . . . . Exactly!!!

Consider this from the article:

Critics have long questioned the companies' bookkeeping. Last November, for example, a Fortune magazine story said new accounting procedures at Fannie Mae masked potential losses on bad loans.

And several years ago, both Fannie and Freddie were forced to restate billions in earnings after federal regulators discovered accounting irregularities at both companies.

The scandals led to the replacement of the companies' top executives. Freddie Mac's former CEO, Gregory Parseghian was ousted in December 2003. Fannie CEO Franklin Raines and chief financial officer Timothy Howard were swept out of office a year later.

Sorry I don’t know how to do links. Following are the first couple paragraphs of the most important stuff I’ve read regarding current Obama/Acorn/current mess. Just google a couple things from it to find it all - it prints out to 10 pages, with tons of links on it for documentation - and PLEASE CIRCULATE IT TO EVERYBODY. It’s from the American Thinker.

Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis
By James Simpson
America waits with bated breath while Washington struggles to bring the U.S. economy back from the brink of disaster. But many of those same politicians caused the crisis, and if left to their own devices will do so again.

Despite the mass media news blackout, a series of books, talk radio and the blogosphere have managed to expose Barack Obama’s connections to his radical mentors — Weather Underground bombers William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis and others. David Horowitz and his Discover the Networks.org have also contributed a wealth of information and have noted Obama’s radical connections since the beginning.

Yet, no one to my knowledge has yet connected all the dots between Barack Obama and the Radical Left. When seen together, the influences on Obama’s life comprise a who’s who of the radical leftist movement, and it becomes painfully apparent that not only is Obama a willing participant in that movement, he has spent most of his adult life deeply immersed in it.

But even this doesn’t fully describe the extreme nature of this candidate. He can be tied directly to a malevolent overarching strategy that has motivated many, if not all, of the most destructive radical leftist organizations in the United States since the 1960s.

Let the Republicans fight back. We have venues if we have spines.

Start by calling for investigations of Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Franklin Raines and others who covered up and resisted regulation for the GSE’s.

When you call your congressmen or email them to refuse the next bailout, emphasize that they are covering the tracks of these thieves.

Do your part to reply to blogs, insisting upon the investigation of Frank’s and Raines’ corrupt dealings with Fannie Mae.

Holler South Chicago politics until it becomes an appositive of Barack Obama’s name.

We’ve got mouths and keyboards, too, Guys.

Let’s use them for good.

“They’ll find some previously unheard of Republican congressman from Bumphus Idatucky who also took money, and instantly declare the scandal “bipartisan.”

Then so be it.

We don’t tolerate Republican thieves anymore than Democrat thieves.
