ANCHORAGE -- When she appeared for a candidate's forum in front of a room filled with unionized Alaskan electrical workers during her run for governor in early October 2006, Sarah Palin arrived woefully unprepared. When the union members grilled her on labor policy, Palin faltered.
Afterward, a furious Palin cursed in anger and berated her staff, recalled two former senior campaign aides who blamed her unwillingness to bone up on workplace issues for the blunder.
But just a few weeks later, when Palin jousted with her two main rivals during critical pre-election debates, she was much more at ease. Palin distilled policy questions into simple answers and countered her opponents' attacks with verbal stiletto thrusts delivered with a sunny smile.
When one moderator asked about abortion and pressed about what she would do if her daughter had a child out of wedlock, Palin had a ready answer, defending her anti-abortion stance and deflecting the question toward her male rivals: "I would choose life. And I am confident you will be asking my opponents these same scenarios?"

I love it! Go Sarah!
Set her free. She has been too polite to the Courics of the world.
I am hoping to God that Sarah is being kept docile and innocent to throw off Biden. All reports are out there that Gibson and Couric showed the American public that she is not bright and not experienced and a sure pushover.
I hope she is Mccains grenade and she pounds “ plugs” into the ground. DON’T LET US DOWN SARAH!
It’s shameful how the LASlimes telegraphs debate questions and strategy to their friend, Gwen Ifill.
FREE SARAH PALIN!
They’re trying to paint her out to be another Reagan—in their minds, all hat, no cattle.
Well, maybe we’re about to see that the American people prefer some down-home common sense over detailed policy wonkishness!

I thought that McCain missed many opportunities in the debate Friday night. I’ve been offline because of Hurricane Ike. How does everyone think McCain did in the debate? I was disappointed that he didn’t look B. Hussein in the eye and tell him what a liar he was on more than one occasion.
Does anyone know why Mac wouldn’t even look at Obama?
Sweet. I bet that left the MSM hack stammering.
Do you have this card? If so, where did you get it?
I've been a life-long Giant fan, and I guarantee that I will be more nervous Thursday night than I was on Super Bowl Sunday back in February.
I'm amazed at how many of us have “bonded” with Sarah in just a few short weeks. If things go as they have been the last little while, I guess we will have to become fans of Alaska politics.
However, as Michael Strahan said to his teammates on the bench as Eli was leading the Giants on the winning drive against the Pats: “Believe and it will happen...”
A lefty hack who is currently writing a book, glorifying 0bambi. Yeah, no bias there...
If it were me, I'd have to do the same just to keep my temper. It's hard enough having to listen to that adenoidal voice.
Author Tom Hamburger was one of the biggest pushers of the Valerie Plame was outed from an undercover intelligence position myth over the past few years. He chalked it up to “anonymous sources”, etc.
That’s what the Dems and the MSM are afraid of.
Like that's a bad thing?!
maybe he is afraid of possession....make eye contact....i have you under my control.
"When you try to prove she doesn't know anything, you lose, because audiences are enraptured by her," Halcro said. "And her biting comments give you a sense of how competitive she is. Anybody who doesn't take her seriously does so at their peril."
We could be so lucky.
I was reading Reagan’s “Life in Letters” over the weekend for a pick-me up and got a chuckle out of the Gipper complaining about how Rather sandbagged him on an interview by using deceptive editing and tricked-up camera angles. This was 28 years ago, and it read like it could have been written last week.
Sarah, you must be all that if the media has to resort to the same tricks they used on Reagan to make you look bad. Keep the faith!
