Why Bush keeps these people around is beyond me. That was the biggest failure and mistake of his presidency. He should have summarily dismissed all the Clinton holdovers.

I’m not trying to be optimistic or pessmistic.

If I knew a person who bought a house with an interest only mortgage and lived in it for 5 years, and got 10 credit cards and maxed them out, I would be quick to note that he has built a massive debt that will either bankrupt him or take him years of saving and modest living to dig himself out of.

That is our current economy. It is not pessimistic to point out the massive debt at every level in our economy and to point out the structural problems in the FIRE economy and to extrapolate those problems to their logical conclusion — a long, deep recession and the destruction of huge amounts of debt that are now based on far lower equity that they were or than they were predicted to be based on.

Sorry I can’t be “optimistic”. Sorry I can’t look at the real world problems and be “optimistic”. So far, my “pessimism” has saved me a 20% haircut in the stock market that I would have taken if I were “optimistic”.

I say, look at the data sitting right in front of you, analyze it and judge wisely. The data are there. You only have to open your eyes to see it.

I realize that analyzing wide-spread economic data is confusing, frustrating and difficult. I realize how much misinformation there is. I realize how sinister the MSM is and how easy it is to dismiss anything they say as evil propaganda (which it generally is). But sometimes the truth drops right in their lap and gives them a golden opportunity.

The economy is in very bad shape over the short term. A long, deep recession is all but guaranteed. I love optimistic, up-beat, can-do people but then, you can’t prepare yourself for what is coming if you don’t see it realistically.

OK, on paper I lost five digits yesterday.

But I also know if I run my business with criminal stupity and short sightnededness, I deserve to go down. I do not expect YOU to give ME a good severance package for being a greedy shortsighted idiot.

I saw enough of that in the last few decades in Fortune 500's. We would get someone who would ruin a division, and it would cost us millions to get rid of him. Amazingly, he would go on to a better position, and loot and wreck that. There were never any consequences.

As I mentioned earlier, 99% of the people involved don’t KNOW they’re involved. GWB, God Bless Him, is part of the “soft” society set, he and his father are good hearted “servants” who believe in giving to people and are charitable Christians. Those who know history have been watching this country head this way for a very long time.

In our house we’ve always said that the “useful idiots” of Hollywood and the media would be the first to go, then the professors, but they can’t even fathom it because they think too much of themselves.

It should steady you, let you know what you’re up against. Let you know that you shouldn’t be outraged by the latest MSM outrage. Let you know that when the doubt and negative feelings start washing over you that it’s manipulation. That you have no doubts in Sarah Palin’s ability or judgement like you’re supposed to.

Sorry but, my pessimism has nothing to do with the strategy of American' enemies or any global strategies or the consequences of not understanding those strategies.

My optimism stems from the lack of appropriate actions and retaliations from McCain towards the Obama campaign which has had a couple of successful weeks painting McCain as clueless and out of touch and as part of the problem.

Though Obama and democrats are more to blame for the problems with the mortgage mess and the credit crisis, Obama and the democrats have been successful in turning it around and blaming republicans and Bush and McCain. McCain is right now being ineffective. Period. And therein is the cause for concern.

Yes, lots of folks tossing around words here, but still fall prey to the tactics. There is so much crammed into this 15 minutes that it should be required viewing before you post on this forum. I've been determined to stay optimistic this season (I'm a constant landslide predicter, lol) because I see SO MANY people falling prey to the psy-ops. No one is immune, not even me. Once it is laid out for you like this though, you are free. I haven't watched the MSM in years, I won't even watch Hannity because of Colmes.
