Midnight Deadline

Midnight tonight marks the end of an important Federal Election Committee fundraising deadline for the campaign.  The amount of money Steve has raised for this quarter will soon be released to the media and will certainly be scrutinized by the Durbin campaign.

Steve is on the air right now and we need your help to keep the ads going and ensure that Steve can get his ads on TV statewide.

There are 35 days left.

With your generous contribution of $25, $50, $100 or $250 we can do this. We can shock the political world and win this race

The eyes of the country are on Washington, and as the Wall Street Journal recently said, "Congress lives up to its 10% approval rating."

If you have had enough, stand with Steve and help bring this campaign across the finish line.  It has never mattered more.

Thank you for all that you do.

YOUR CHANCE TO ASK DURBIN

If you had the chance to ask
Dick Durbin one question,
what would it be?

On Monday, October 6, (WTTW, Chicago Tonight) and Thursday, October 9, (Illinois Radio Network), Steve will be debating Dick Durbin.
Submit a one to two sentence question and Steve, if given the opportunity, will ask the best question we receive.

Please send your questions to:  campaign@Sauerberg2008.com

He has an uphill battle. The ice has been breaking a bit and Senator Tom Coburn just did a fundraiser for Steve. He also received the endorsement of the Illinois right to life for his work in crises pregnancy centers. One thing is certain is if he isn’t on air with ads he has no chance to win. He will be having two big debates with Durbin so if there is a chance it will be through them and having the money to let people know who he is through election day. I don’t have a lot left to give but I’m going to give $10.00 till I have more. I’ve been giving as much as I can to our Senate race here in Virginia. We can’t give up.

Thanks for posting this reminder for Steve and all candidates taking the fight to the America bashers. Tonight is the FEC deadline. Fundraising numbers will then be gauged to decide which races going forward will get resources, visits, etc.

Is he pro-life?

Short answer:

Sauerberg: A sound byte? There is no sound byte...If you want a sound byte, it’s 'I’m pro-baby, pro-mother and pro-family.'

Long answer: here

Before the primary, Sauerberg said that he was pro-choice, and, in Dec., the Illinois Federation for Right to Life endorsed one of his primary opponents, Mike Psak. During a debate, in Jan., Sauerberg said that he opposes overturning Roe vs. Wade.

Sauerberg is also pro-gun control and pro-Hillarycare. Since Sauerberg can’t win, I’ll probably vote for Chad Koppie, the Constitution Party candidate. Koppie is pro-life, pro-gun rights, and anti-illegal alien. His site is www.koppieforsenate.com.

Sauerberg or Koppie for U.S. Senate -- who the best to Defeat Dick Durbin?

LEARN WHERE THE CANDIDATES STAND HERE:
www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2099382/posts

In summary:

Steve Sauerberg is a career medical doctor who has no experience or political record for the nation’s highest legislative office. On the issues, he supports keeping abortion legal, favors gun control measures like the assault weapons ban, pro-gay rights, pro-UN, supports federal involvement in health care, welcomes free trade (even with communist nations), supports tax cuts, favors off shore drilling, is pro-WOT, believe in global warming, opposes the bailout, is vaguely against “blanket” amnesty, supports the department of education and NOLB, and is open to confirming just about anyone, regardless of ideology.

Chad Koppie is a retired senior jumbo jet captain and farmer who has long been active in politics -- having held both elected and appointed office -- and is well qualified to be U.S. Senator, with a record of proven leadership. On the issues, he is unabashedly 100% pro-life, strongly supports 2nd amendment rights, opposes the gay agenda, strongly believes in U.S. sovereignty, opposes the feds being involved in health care and education, is strongly in favor of tax cuts and spending reductions, favors off shore drilling and ANWR, is pro-WOT, opposes the cult of global warming, opposes the bailout, is clearly against amnesty, and has promised to vote to confirm ONLY originalist and strict constructionist judges.

Which one would you want replacing Durbin and representing us in the U.S. Senate?

REMEMBER THE FREEPERS WHO TOLD US TO VOTE SAUERBERG SO HE CAN "BEAT" DURBIN?

Well, they got their wish!

Nearly EVERY stauch hardcore Republican who showed up on Tuesday voted for RINO Steve Sauerberg INSTEAD of voting third party. The (far more qualified and far more conservative) Constitution Party nominee received only 0.5% of the vote. So now that the ILGOP SUCCESSFULLY shoved Sauerberg down our throats, let's see how well he did...

I may be a liberal douchebag who is totally unqualified for the Senate and would vote like Durbin 80% of the time, but it's ALL okay because...

I'M NOT DICK DURBIN!!!!!!!!"

Everyone blindly get behind Dr. Sauerberg, he's ELECTABLE!!! He can BEAT DICK DURBIN!! He's WITHIN striking distance (nevermind the fact there's NO evidence to support this...)

Vote for RINOs, they can WIN!!!

AND THE U.S. SENATE RESULTS ARE IN...

1998
Peter Fitzgerald (R) 1,709,041 votes 50.35% Counties won: 97 out of 102.

2002
Jim Durbin (R) 38.02%. Counties won: 26 out of 102

2004
Alan Keyes (R) 1,476,083 votes 27.94% Counties won: 10 out of 102

2008
Steve Sauerberg (RINO) 1,390,690 votes 27.05%. Counties won: 3 out of 102. (Woodruff, Wayne & Edwards)
See here for proof: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/county/#ILS01map

====================================

Yep, thanks to all the freepers who voted for the "electable" RINO, looks like Durbin will be packing his bags any minute now.

Congrats, Illinois freepers. Those of you who voted RINO "sent a message" that having the GOP run pro-abortion, gun-grabbing, activist judge rubber stamper is just FINE with the conservative base. The ILGOP now has nothing to fear from annointing another RINO for statewide office next time. The CP certainly isn't a threat, they got only 0.5%! The ILGOP can run ANY unqualified socialist joke they want and the base will go along with it. Perhaps if the ILGOP runs a candidate even further left than Sauerberg, he'll be more "electable" in the future.

Good thing Illinois Republicans all voted RINO, eh?

Gee, I thought Sauerberg was "within striking distance"? What happened? Alan Keyes won more counties in his disastrous 2004 Senate campaign against Obama than Sauerberg did against Durbin.

Considering all the OTHER polls showed Sauerberg didn't have a prayer against Durbin, I don't suppose it's possible you Sauerberg supportered LIED about Sauerberg's numbers to con freepers into donating to him? Nah.

The really tragic thing is we lost some really CLOSE, competitive races in Illinois because you were diverting attention away from them and talking conservatives into throwing money and time away to help the hapness liberal Steve Sauerberg. Ray Wardingley, with almost NO money, got over 48% against Emil Jones III in the Cook County suburbs (seems there was a backlash from Senate President Emil Jones deciding to install his son into the seat for life). David McAloon really was within striking distance of Careen Gordon, but he struggled for volunteers because you were busy posting vanities to divert conservative resources to proping up the clueless RINO Sauerberg. All those donations to Sauerberg went down the toilet.

I hope you're proud of yourself for wasting valuable Conservatives time promoting this clueless unelectable RINO. Mike Madigan should send you a certificate for helping waste conservative resources in 2008.

And since your buddy Sauerberg got around 30% of the vote, you can't blame the mean ol' conservatives for staying home. About 30% of all voters will vote Republican by default, another 30% will vote Dem by default, and the remaining 40% are the independant swing voters. You successfully got the Republican base to hold their vote and vote for this RINO loser. Only about 23,000 out of 13 million voters like me refused to vote for this clueless unqualified RINO and supported a conservative candidate more deserving of a U.S. Senate seat.

Sauerberg won people who are going to vote Republican anyway. Where he failed miserably was getting independants and Reagan Democrats. They voted against him in droves. As I predicted would happen.

Being an unqualified empty suit with no platform tends to do that to candidates.

Turban Durbin would have defeated any of the candidates who ran against him this year. The fact that Sauerberg was the nominee was incidental.

The GOP needed someone who was well-known, with name ID and a fundraising base.

True, but six years ago, the nominee was little known State Rep. Jim Durkin (who was an actual conservative), and the guy ran a shoestring campaign — not even having the funds to run TV ads. He got 38% against Durbin and won 26 counties. Sauerberg ran almost 10 points BEHIND that (getting 29% of the vote) and won a whopping 3 counties.

The bleeding was really incredible. Remember, Alan Keyes was imported from Maryland at the 11th hour and ran a lousy campaign, and he even HE carried 10 counties (and he polled better than Sauerberg in the three counties Sauerberg won) back in 2004.

Just shows you how pathetic a clueless RINO like Sauerberg is, IMO. A decent candidate could have polled at least 40% against Durbin.

As you no doubt know, Illinois has changed demographically over the past 15-20 years. Chicago now dominates the state, as downstate Illinois has declined both economically and demographically. A lot of Chicago liberals have moved into the suburbs to escape the consequences of the policies they helped install. Illinois has attracted a lot more leftist types. Many conservative Republicans in Illinois have moved away or died.

There are similar trends in New York and California.

Greetings BillyBoy:

Voted for Chad Koppie. Thanks BillyBoy, for making me wise toward the Sauerberg campaign's caginess. While I wouldn't breach this during the campaign, it's time to air out the dirty laundry.

What really ticked me off, I agreed to conduct veterans outreach on behalf of the campaign. After all, I'm a life member of Veterans organizations. and held many positions of responsibility in veterans organizations.

After coordinating with the appointment book keeper at the Lombard office in early July, we booked Dr. Sauerberg as a VIP speaker for the American Legion Department of Illinois Convention.

Surprisingly, Neal Sauerberg calls me back, not to thank me, but yells at me for booking Dr. Sauerberg without Neal's permission. Then abruptly cancels Dr. Sauerberg’s speaking engagement.

Cancels the most important speaking engagement of the campaign season! Reaching thousands of Illinois Veterans, who might influence many more in their community, in both writing and casual conversations and in one shot?

From that point on, I believed the Sauerberg for Senate campaign was simply a reelect Durbin sideshow.

Cheers,
OLA
