WASHINGTON - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin repeatedly failed to cite a newspaper or magazine when asked what she had read regularly before John McCain picked her as his running mate, saying only that she had read "most of them."
Palin also said that she doesn't believe that the media's coverage of her has been sexist. "It would be sexist if the media were to hold back and not ask me about my experience, my vision, my principles, my values," said Palin, Alaska's governor....

Most of the questions that Couric asked Palin sounded like a retarded version of Jeopardy.
Any FReeper can say he or she ‘reads most of them’ (because we do). I suspect Gov. Palin gets her news here. (The question is, is she a deep cover lurker, a lurker with a screen name, or an occasional poster.)
I suspect she was being coy to avoid a firestorm of the form ‘. . .and she gets her news from a “hate site”. . .Bill O’Reilly said FreeRepublic.com is a “hate site”. . .’
This was a softball question- “What newspapers do you read?” Its not even a policy question. She FAILED.
Joe Biden was nastier than this to Clarence Thomas. He deliberately redacted a quote by Justice Thomas (then seeking appointment) to miscast his position as one in support of an activist roll for the court. The 2 sentences immediately following the transcript read by Joe Biden during the hearings totally show Senator Biden’s tactic to be a slimey liberal lie.
To be honest, it sounds like she's worried about answering in a non-approved fashion.
I get my news from FoxNews, MSNBC (it's like another planet), Drudge links across the web, and FreeRepublic links across the web.
Thank you! I have been thinking this same thing all along but just haven’t voiced this opinion on here for fear of being labeled a DUmmy. Bottom line: Yes, the media has been incredibly hateful and disgusting in their coverage of her, but she has done little to combat this and shed the image that she has no place on the national scene. This doesn’t mean that I don’t think that she is ready or qualified, because I do. But she, or the McCain campaign, or more likely both, have allowed the media to define her to the squishy undecideds with no noticeable efforts to refute the MSM onslaught. I honestly don’t know if the McCain campaign is the least bit interested in winning this thing based on their apparent willingness to act as a doormat on far too many occasions.
Bill O’Reilly is foaming at the mouth over this.
Really, all Sarah needed to say that for sure she wasn’t reading Mein Kampf or Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto

Like many Americans, Palin probably doesn't read newspapers or news magazines. She probably gets her info from cable news, the internet, and, as a prominent politician, from briefings.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think this is her way of avoiding more "gotcha" questions. For example, if she says she reads the NYT, other questions would come from that.
I'm in the camp of "let Sarah be Sarah".
