Washington Voters Should Oppose Initiative 1000, Say No to Assisted Suicide

When voters in Washington state head to the polls on Tuesday, they will consider Initiative 1000, which would make the state the second in the nation to legalize the grisly practice of assisted suicide. Washington residents should reject assisted suicide to a solution to helping elderly, terminally ill and other patients.

In the minds of most Americans, assisted suicide brings to mind Doctor Kevorkian, the iconoclastic crusader who appeared more interested in publicity than putting the interests of patients first.

While a Jack Kevorkian may not come to Washington to flout the current laws, making the practice legal doesn't help patients.

For many, assisted suicide involves the same principles as the abortion debate -- where death becomes a handy solution when government or society seeks quick fix solution to a problem...

The same people who think it's not the parent's business if their daughter commits infanticide would expel these girls for taking Advil for the pain afterward.

California Proposition 4 for Parental Notice on Abortion Leads in Friday Poll

Sacramento, CA (LifeNews.com) -- The latest survey of California voters finds a very narrow lead for Proposition 4, the measure that would require parental notification before a minor girl can have an abortion. The results of a Field Poll, released Friday, show a narrow 45-43 percentage point lead with 12 percent undecided.

The good news for backers of the measure is that the notification initiative leads among people who have already voted -- giving them a last-minute chance to persuade the rest.

The survey finds the larger lead the parental rights measure enjoyed in earlier surveys has diminished as Election Day nears. The measure had an eight point lead in September and a nine point lead in July.

NO ELECTION has EVER been as important to the protection of innocent life as tomorrow's.

When Life Begins - Will politics trump science?

When does the life of a human individual begin? Although the question is of obvious importance for our public policy debates over abortion and embryonic-stem-cell research, politicians have avoided it like the plague. Of late, though, things seem to be changing. Recently some of our nation’s most prominent political leaders, from the Speaker of the House to both contenders for the office of president, have weighed in on the question.

Faced with the complicated and not-very-widely-known facts of human embryology, most people are inclined to agree with the sentiment expressed by Speaker Pelosi, who has stated “I don’t think anybody can tell you when… human life begins.”

Yet is Speaker Pelosi correct? Is it actually the case that no one can tell you with any degree of authority when the life of a human being actually begins?

No, it is not. Treating the question as some sort of grand mystery, or expressing or feigning uncertainty about it, may be politically expedient, but it is intellectually indefensible. Modern science long ago resolved the question. We actually know when the life of a new human individual begins...

The Truth Is That Every Life Is Sacred

"I don't personally believe that someone should do that but I don't think that the government should interfere; it's their choice . . .” I listened, but I didn't understand.

"It may be a part of your religious belief, but it's not a part of mine. In fact, my religion permits it, and can justify it in the Scriptures. Don't try to force your religion on me." I heard what they were speaking but I couldn't believe what they were saying...

Mich. Bishop to Voters: Abortion can Only be Outweighed by an Evil Equivalent "in Number and Kind"

SAGINAW, Michigan, November 3, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Bishop Robert J. Carlson of Saginaw issued a pastoral letter in the eve of the U.S. campaign season, urging Catholics to heed the "special burden on the conscience" imposed by the destruction of innocent life, particularly as found in abortion.

In the first section of his letter, Bishop Carlson poses the question: "Isn't abortion just one issue among others in this election?" He answers, "No. Any serious Catholic voter must recognize abortion as the premier threat to human rights and dignity in our day."

Because abortion consists in the murder of about one million unborn children every year, says the bishop, "A Catholic can, in good conscience, vote for a pro-choice candidate only if other issues outweigh this one in number and in kind."

For example, the abortion issue outweighs the death penalty because abortion ends a far greater number of human lives than the handful killed by the death penalty, and because abortion is a graver kind of evil by targeting only the most innocent form of life, rather than those found guilty in a court of law.

Bishop Carlson notes that there are other serious issues voters must weigh in the presidential election; however, "a Catholic needs to recognize that all issues do not have the same weight.

"Can any other issue, or combination of issues, attain sufficient gravity to outweigh the directly willed destruction of 1 million children every year?"

They aren’t telling anyone “who” to vote for, they are advising people to vote based on “principles” that are consistent with 6000 years of Judeo-Christian teaching.

I want to thank you for your efforts in this election. You worked hard to protect our freedom. I didn’t think there would be enough voter fraud to overcome all the hard work by so many who tried to save this nation.
