"Americans and people around the world need to know about Obama," Verastegui continued. "If he is not going to defend the most innocent, then who is he going to defend? If someone is not willing to take a risk for the most innocent, which is babies, what can I expect from that person? He will not defend me. He will not defend you. That's what inspired me to put something together.

He nails it here!

New Terri Dailies theme...

With prospects for Lauren Richardson now favorable and with the upcoming election cycle and the threats to the core of pro-life people and just plain decent Americans, what could be more important than the defeat of these America haters and death lovers? Terri's Legacy has taught us all we cannot rest easy and must persevere against this grim force.

Haleigh Poutre update...

"The Republican" reports on how the proceedings are going, keeps up the pressure...

.....................................

SPRINGFIELD - If Haleigh Poutre is called as a witness in the child abuse case against her stepfather, the media will have access to all proceedings.

A judge Wednesday upheld the rights of all media to have access to the proceedings in the trial of Jason D. Strickland. Hampden Superior Court Judge Judd J. Carhart did indicate, however, that he may ask for "accommodations" to be made in photographing and videotaping her testimony.

Carhart, concurring with the opposition voiced by The Republican, called the freedom of the press and its access to trials part of "the bedrock of this nation." The openness of America's courts "distinguishes this judicial system from courts around the world," he said.

The state Department of Children and Families had sought to prohibit the press from covering the child's testimony.

The ruling came as the defense lawyer for Strickland said he may include now 14-year-old Haleigh, left brain-injured three years ago, among his witnesses when the case goes to trial Oct. 29.

On the eve of the hearing Tuesday, the prosecution, after consulting with the state agency which now has custody of the child, dropped its plan to have Haleigh testify. And, while some thought it would end the girl's involvement in the case, attorney Alan J. Black told Carhart he was "not prepared at this time" to decide if he will pursue her as a witness. Carhart gave the defense two weeks to make that decision.

The judge said he will reschedule a hearing to determine if Haleigh is competent to testify if Black decides to use her as a witness at trial. If such a hearing occurs, Carhart said he will make sure the media makes accommodations that will be sensitive to the state's concerns for the girl.

Haleigh, who suffered a severe brain injury in September 2005, continues to undergo treatment in a Boston rehabilitation hospital. The judge said it is possible he would hold a hearing there, if medical experts involved in her treatment indicate it is necessary.

Attorney Joseph P. Pessolano, who represented The Republican, told Carhart during Wednesday's hearing that the Strickland case is of interest not only because of the extent of the child abuse alleged but also because of the shadow it cast on the state child protection agency and its response to Haleigh's well-being. "This case is notorious for a lot of reasons,'" he told Carhart.

After the hearing Pessolano said, "This court and this judge in particular are very sensitive to the rights of the press."

The Boston Globe joined The Republican's in fighting the media ban, but did not send an attorney to the proceedings Wednesday.

Strickland, 34, formerly of Westfield, and his late wife, Holli A. Strickland, Haleigh's adoptive mother, were charged with the abuse in Westfield which left the child comatose with a severe brain injury three years ago.

Holli Strickland was dead within days of her arrest in September 2005, the victim, West Springfield police said, of gunshot wounds in a murder-suicide with her grandmother.

It is Massachusetts DSS agency which tried to kill little Haleigh in the beginning as she lay in a coma. They almost succeeded in pulling her plug.

I use the term, projection enough to describe the usual tendency of the far left foist their own failings on their victims. Haters call people they hate haters. So here we have them going after Sarah Palin et al. in the same tune. I am trying to think of a projection more despicable than that of Obamunist calling despicable the lady who survived an abortion and simply pointed out his connection to the industry.

As they vilify the victim, they also vilify Jill Stanek who has seen all their acts up close and simply tells the truth. Also, after reading this kind of stuff, I have an uncontrollable urge to go take a shower and wash the foul clutter of leftist print away.

...................................

Research for this story was supported by the Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute. Until John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running mate, Obama attack ops -- whether political action committees or their 501(c)4 partners -- were struggling mightily to raise the kind of cash that fueled the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth smear machine in 2004. More than $45 million poured into that effort to sink John Kerry's campaign, mainly from the pockets of wealthy Bush backers. A review of Federal Election Commission (FEC) campaign donations back in June of this year showed that the big Swift Boat donors -- such as Ohio investor Carl H. Lindner and family, Dallas pharmacy magnate Harold C. Simmons, Texas homebuilder Bob Perry and oilman T. Boone Pickens -- were putting their money elsewhere, either pouring it directly into the McCain campaign or sending it off to Republican Congressional races, the Republican Governors Association or Newt Gingrich's PAC, American Solutions. But all that changed when the evangelical pro-life Alaska governor stepped up to the podium in Minneapolis to accept the Republican nomination for vice-president. Overnight the culture warriors, who'd been grumbling about McCain from the sidelines, were back in play. The Council for National Policy, one of the Christian right's most secretive strategy bodies, immediately endorsed the "values"-enhanced McCain ticket, triggering a $10 million infusion of campaign donations from evangelicals and their associates on the hard right. In this volatile race for the White House, they may yet make the difference. Call it the Palin Payoff.

~Snip~

On September 15 Born Alive Truth, a 527 out of Mokena, Illinois, launched a $338,000 TV ad blitz in Ohio and New Mexico tarring Obama as a supporter of infanticide. The 30-second ad featured a Nashville abortion survivor, Gianna Jessen. Born Alive Truth is fronted by former nurse and Christian right player Jill Stanek. Stanek, a one-time operator with Concerned Women for America, advocates against "partial birth" abortion and fought access to Plan B, the emergency contraception pill, by saying it would become a tool of "rapists and male sexual predators." Now a columnist for the ultra-right website WorldNetDaily. Stanek is known for repeating bogus claims that the Chinese dine on human fetuses and that Terri Schiavo was fully cognizant at the time her feeding tube was removed. In one classic column, Stanek equated Parkinson's victim Michael J. Fox with Hitler for his support of embryonic stem-cell research:..............

Salvation has a thread on the "Catholic" governor of Oregon...

..........................................

SALEM -- Archbishop John Vlazny is criticizing Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a Catholic, for playing host to an abortion rights fundraiser Friday night in Portland.

Vlazny, head of the Archdiocese of Portland, said it's an embarrassment and a scandal for Catholics that Kulongoski is hosting the event two days before the church conducts its annual "Respect Life" mass in Portland to show opposition to abortion.

"For a Catholic governor to host an event of this sort seems a deliberate dissent from the teachings of the church," Vlazny said in a statement today.

Kulongoski is a longtime supporter of a woman's right to choose an abortion.................

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new web site by the Matthew 25 Network, a Democratic political action committee supporting Barack Obama, falsely calls Barack Obama pro-life. The "Pro-Life, Pro-Obama" web site features a list of what Obama would do as president and almost completely ignores abortion.

"An Obama administration will do more than a McCain administration for the cause of life, by drastically reducing abortions through giving women and families the support and the tools they need to choose life," the web site claims........

SACRAMENTO – California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has officially approved an assisted suicide measure allowing nurses to sedate, dehydrate and starve depressed or confused individuals they consider to be "terminally ill."

The bill, sponsored by Assemblywoman Patty Berg, a Democrat, passed the California Assembly Aug. 28, and the state Senate Aug. 20. It was signed by the governor yesterday.

The legislation, called the "Terminal Patients' Right to Know End of Life Options Act," or AB 2747, passed by a 42 to 34 vote. An Aug. 20 Senate vote of 21 to 17 ushered the measure to the governor's desk for signing.

Randy Thomasson, chief of the Campaign for Children and Families, said the legislation is dangerous and should have been vetoed by Gov. Schwarzenegger............

Thank you. I would have seen it at the theaters if it played near me. You probably know that Bella won awards in Toronto.

I hope many pro-lifers will get the DVD if they haven’t seen it yet.

From the Dakota Voice, a good summary...

.....................................

From Reuters comes word that former St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke, who now leads the Vatican’s Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature, didn't pull his punches when he recently described the Democrat Party as a "party of death" recently.

According to the Reuters piece, in June he told the Italian Catholic newspaper Avvenire that the DNC

risked “transforming itself definitively into a party of death for its decisions on bioethical issues.” He then attacked two of the party’s most high profile Catholics — vice presidential candidate Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — for misrepresenting Church teaching on abortion.

He said Biden and Pelosi, “while presenting themselves as good Catholics, have presented Church doctrine on abortion in a false and tendentious way.”

How true!

The only disagreement I have with Archbishop Burke's statement--and I don't know if this was paraphrased by Reuters or Avvenire, or if Burke actually used the word--would be that "risked" is obsolete. The Democrat Party already has transformed itself into a party of death.

The DNC embraces a position of hostility toward children that elevates contraception almost to the level of a sacrament. In other words, their public policy advocacy is, in practice, hostile toward the creation of new life.

The DNC embraces abortion on demand for no other reason than "I don't want it." This has resulted in the deaths of nearly 50 million children in the past 35 years...and the DNC vociferously and relentlessly fights to maintain that right to kill every unborn child possible in perpetuity. As a party, they embrace even the totally barbaric "partial birth abortion"...and the banner-carrier of their party, Barack Obama, even defended infanticide.

The DNC officially promotes embryonic stem cell research which destroys human life, while ignoring the dozens of successes of adult stem cell research which does not destroy human life.

The DNC embraces euthanasia and the killing of the weak, disabled and old. Their vociferous defense of the murder of Terri Schiavo a few years ago stands as the most shameful example of their embrace of death...for others, that is.

The DNC also embraces homosexuality in all it's forms and manifestations. Homosexuality is a practice which by its very nature can never result in the creation of life--even when both sets of reproductive organs involved function perfectly. And by normalizing, encouraging and even celebrating a practice which is characterized by much greater risk of AIDS, STDs, depression, substance abuse and suicide, the DNC is encouraging even more death.

Some folks act like they don't know the difference between the value of life and death, even though it was clearly laid out more than 3,000 years ago.

The Democrats risk becoming the party of death? I'd say that ship already sailed a long time ago...

Archbishop Burke: Democrats Risk Becoming the Party of Death
