Fox Business Has a Spurt in Viewers
New York Timse ^ | 10/3/2008 | BRIAN STELTER

For one afternoon this week, it was possible to obtain a reliable estimate for how many people were watching the Fox Business Network, at least at home.

That figure was 81,000, and it represented the average number of people watching for any given hour from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, according to Nielsen Media Research. The figure is a milestone for the nearly year-old channel, which had never drawn an audience large enough to be considered statistically reliable by Nielsen for an extended time period.

Watch Fox Business instead of CNBC! The New York Times is doing it's best to degrade Fox Business.

Fox is running away with ratings. Love it!

So, having Bill Clinton as a guest was successful for them, I guess.

I bet a lot of people are doing that very thing! The NY TIMES
will only survive if Obama is elected and reading it is made mandatory.

FOX business is much better coverage of bailout bill
NO Alan Colmes or Dick Morrison
Almost no tolerance for DNC talking points
Neal Cavuto rocks- asks questions, follows them up, and does not take prisoners

Yeah, I have dish, and just found out that it is a “subscription” channel w/them—pretty ballsy considering rates, etc.
But....then, merchants are right up there w/politicians/used-car sales....

Agreed. Cavuto is the best business reporter on television. I also love his attitude. He treats everyone with great respect, whether he agrees with them or not.

“Neal Cavuto rocks- asks questions, follows them up, and does not take prisoners”

I started watching FBN this week. Cavuto and Ramsey are good. Cavuto can rip apart a guest and then use humor to soften the blow.

Cavuto can rip apart a guest and then use humor to soften the blow.and do it in crisp,clear,high-def ,no less.

Cavuto has been on the right side of the bailout issue. He's called everyone on their lies and shown proof to back up his claims.

I can’t get it unless I upgrade my cable. I’m on the 2nd tier and I’ll be damned if I pay for the 3rd because half of the channels aren’t even in English.

I’ll never watch CNBC and barely tune in to Bloomberg anymore(only early in the a.m. to catch the futures)

The MSM’s are bleeding badly.

And that’s why I think there’s still hope for a McCain/Palin Win. The viewership on Fox wins handsdown each and every time. No matter how shrill the other networks are, people are not listening. Could it be that an outbreak of common sense is sweeping the majority of voters? One can hope (and pray)

Ditto on Cavuto!
Everything you say and more.
Cavuto is everything o’pinhead should be, and Cavuto should have replaced him long ago!

I have been watching Fox Business since the bailout bill and have really enjoyed it. I bet they get a big bounce out of this mess.

Flash back 10 years. The same NYT gave Fox News Channel absolutely no chance of succeeding. Back then, the focus was on CNN and MSNBC. I’ll never forget the fawning coverage of MSNBC’s first night on the air, when Brian Williams used an atlas to show where TWA Flight 800 went down (apparently, their graphics weren’t ready to go).

We know what happened. Rupert Murdoch hired the best news exec in the business, Roger Ailes, to run FNC. Within five years, they were beating CNN and MSNBC consistently and Fox has been the dominant cable news channel since 2001.

Murdoch has great patience and (almost) unlimited resources. He’ll spend whatever it takes to put FBC on top. If I were CNBC, I’d be concerned. Fox Business is attracting about a third of their “peak” audience after only one year on the air. CNBC also made the grave mistake of “taking the weekend off” during the financial crisis, while FBC offered continuous coverage. Fox is already capitalizing on that error.

My prediction: Fox Business will challenge CNBC within 3 years and dominate within five. Meanwhile, the suits at GE and NBC news will be wondering what hit them.
