McCain plans fiercer strategy against Obama

WASHINGTON — Sen. John McCain and his Republican allies are readying a newly aggressive assault on Sen. Barack Obama's character, believing that to win in November they must shift the conversation back to questions about the Democrat's judgment, honesty and personal associations, several top Republicans said.
With just a month to go until Election Day, McCain's team has decided that its emphasis on the senator's biography as a war hero, experienced lawmaker and straight-talking maverick is insufficient to close a growing gap with Obama. The Republican's campaign also is eager to move the conversation away from the economy, an issue that strongly favors Obama and has helped him to a lead in many recent polls.
"We're going to get a little tougher," a senior Republican operative said, indicating that a fresh batch of TV ads are coming. "We've got to question this guy's associations. Very soon. There's no question that we have to change the subject here," said the operative, who was not authorized to discuss strategy and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

McCain’s real problem is that he is allowing his so-called “temper” issue to affect his approach toward Obama. It is clear to me that his campaign advisers think that if Mac goes full-bore on Obama, the MSM will start screaming, “Temper! Ohmygod, McCain has a TEMPER! We can’t trust him with the red button because he has a TEEEEEEMMMMMMMper! Waaaaaaah!”
Personally, I think Mac is entitled to his so-called “temper.” I have a temper, too, when I find myself surrounded by idiots and quislings. Go ahead, McCain, let that temper fly!

What needs to be done is to show a chart of economic indicators up until 2006 and how those have all drastically declined afterwards. The economy was going gangbusters until the Dems took over both houses.
They could interpose the charts and the dem takeover and say something like "coincidence? - you decide".
Obama is blaming the job losses on McCain/Bush/Republicans and that needs to be rebutted.
Another thing that might go in McCain's favor as far as the economy is that gas prices are starting to come down. Nothing needs to be said because people will naturally be happy about it. I think that's part of the reason, when these last couple of weeks were in an uproar, consumer confidence strangely went up.
Rudy Giuliani is quite familiar with the Cloward-Piven Strategy.
Then you just don't understand whats happening. It effects each and every one of us. You just haven't noticed it yet. But you will. This bail out isn't for wall street, it's for YOU. It's so you can keep spending money you don't have. It's to prevent the banks from cutting your line of credit, denying you that car loan even though you qualify. it's to prevent massive lay offs from a sudden break down of bank credit, which we all rely on each day to carry on business. It's going to happen anyways, this bail out is just slowing it down. With France declaring it is officially in a recession, and the rest of Europe and the world following close behind, There is no way this bail out is going to carry us through until the economy improves. This credit crunch goes way back, before Freddy-Mac and Fanny-May, in began long before they started profiting from the community development scheme.. They just did it in a much bigger way than the banks did, bundling up these bad loans into multi million dollar packages and selling them on the world wide bond markets.
If you want to really blame someone for this, blame the government. They are the ones who started it all by forcing banks to loan money in the name of "community development" to minority's who could not otherwise get loans- for anything, not just houses. It was government that demanded that banks increase the amount of loans to minorities who couldn't aford it from 2-3 % to over 30%.
I heard McCain is going to name names of who caused the crises and they are going to be hard hitting according to someone I worked with in another campaign this cycle. McCain has been trying to get people to see what was going to happen for sometime but was blocked by the Dems. Also heard that he is going to start tying Obama to the cast of lowlifes he has hung around with. With all the info out there on the terrorist Ayers, he has a lot to work with.
Think Dick Morris also knows the general theme of what is in them because in 24 hours he went from McCain is doomed to Obama peaked too soon.
Been hearing about these ads ready to go for a week waiting for the bill to pass and the VP debate to be over. Not many candidates would have weathered the storm McCain went through when he had little money left and no staff to speak of and pull out a win in NH thanks to a lot of volunteers who believed in him, and then go on to win the nomination. This is not someone who is going to sit back and take it easy.
The difference between McCain and Obama is that he did put Country First before going on the attack. With the bill passed and signed, now there is no reason to hold back. He was doublecrossed by Paulson and you can bet he intends to get to the bottom of this whole debacle because this bill goes against everything he believes but he had no choice if he wanted to block Obama from the WH but to go along. Too big of risk to the financial markets on top of everything.
Paulson sandbagged him for Obama and Sen McCain is not one to forgive and forget — more like get even!
Normally, I would never think it possible, but Øbama is different, the “change” is ominous. No Gulag for me.
I’ll believe it if I see it, and I’m sick of waiting for McCain to WANT to win this election.
I sent this to both his website “contact” and the Missouri campaign addy - the second one got bounced; “Mail quota exceeded”. Judging by the way the campaign offices don’t even answer their phones or messages here, looks like they don’t care about their mail, either. Don’t know if the first got it. And what makes us think they listen to us??

“This is a FIGHT to win the Presidency; it is not a time for “bipartisan” niceties. McCain needs to stop the “bipartisan, reaching across the aisle” stuff - does he not know the difference between a Senate disagreement and an election?? With Governor Palin, his campaign got a terrific boost and gained support of us conservatives who did not support him before. We no longer had to just vote against the Marxist Obama, we could vote FOR our Republican ticket. But McCain has to stop trying to lose this fight!!
“Obama is the enemy of his campaign and the enemy of Americans who love our freedom. He is not McCain’s “friend”. He is a foe. Has McCain forgotten what that means? We are starting to think so and about to lose hope. An election is a battle, not a contest for “getting along”. We don’t see McCain pointing out the dangers of an Obama Presidency to our way of life. We don’t see him here in Missouri speaking out against the Obama Truth Squad’s attempts to intimidate voters here and threatening us with law enforcement if we exercise our right to free speech. I am absolutely sick. I worked for Republican headquarters for 9 months in 1964, for Goldwater IN TEXAS where we didn’t have a hope, and we worked our hearts out anyway. I walked my precinct 44 years ago with my two youngest kids carrying a Goldwater sign. “In Your Heart You Know He’s Right”, it said. I never said that about McCain. He was about number 6 on my list a few months ago. Thing is, I’m willing to work and he’s not. Country first my a$$. With him it’s “friends first” And they’re ALL his friends.
There are better choices to make before it gets to that point.
Doesn’t matter what McCain thought, it matters what voters thought, for most it was a choice between 700 Billion and Great Depression II.
A false choice to be sure, however it was what it was.
They are all the same people who orchestrated this whole financial system melt down. Obama was with it right from the beginning with Ayers, Acorn, etc.
It’s all connected.
I’m not sitting back and not helping the ticket. I’ve volunteered in the local victory office and I sent a donation this week. However, I do think it’s about time McCain started exposing Obama’s character (or lack thereof) and his associations. I want to see the fired up John McCain that called us all to fight with him at the end of the Republican Convention. This article is actually encouraging to me.

I’m not convinced of that anymore. McCain will bend over backwards to be nice to the socialists, and he will not stand up to them. Thus, the socialists will effectively be in charge.
McCain == Obama effectively.
When you consider that the average voter [Freepers excluded, of course] has the attention span of a fruit fly, possibly the *perfect* time to get nasty is as close to the election as possible.
Take 9/11 for example.
For a *lot* of people, it already has an air of unreality and they have ‘put it behind them’.
