An hour before Bruce Springsteen tickets were to be distributed for Monday's free acoustic concert at Eastern Michigan University, only 20 people were in line.

The first fan arrived from Grand Rapids at 4:30 a.m. Friday. Brad Berry, 54, has seen Springsteen about 15 times and saw Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama in May in Grand Rapids. He said he was alone until 6:30 when a second person showed up. And they were alone until 7:30.

All said they were shocked that so few people were in line.

The band may have been called the Amboy Dukes, but they and the Nuge are from Michigan. Talk about a music scene - the Nuge, The Stooges, The MC5, Grand Funk!

Same here, and isn’t Springsteen looking more and more like a used rubber?

Growing up in Jersey, I used to really appreciate Springsteen. Over time it's unfortunate that he's morphed himself into a sorrowful sock puppet for the radical left.

Bruce is Grampa Jones to college kids.

True, he's some old hack to most kid's today. Nothing is "yuckier" than to worship the same guy your parents did. :)

Perhaps they could entice more fans by publicizing that walkers and oxygen tanks would be provided.

Some rock musicians have stood the test of time, at least the test of 30 or so years. Bruce is NOT one of them. I’ll admit I liked him in the late 70’s and early 80’s. But his old stuff is really dated. Nobody cares about him today. I’ve heard Springsteen tickets are very easy to come by nowadays. Unlike performers like Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck who I’ve seen relatively recently Bruce just seems to be a has been. Clapton and Beck are older than Bruce but their music adapts to the times and is timeless. Bruce if you are listening you really Pis*ed Off a lot of people with your politics.

I don't get the Jonas Brothers either, but discovering that we knew their parents was amazing to our kids.

That's the way that it goes. We perform miracles in raising our kids, get all sorts of accolades for being good in sales, as a Mom, etc, but nothing impresses the little ones like “We knew Mr Jonas when he was a worship leader”.

I can’t help but think that this lack of enthusiasm is based on the fact that BO has run a smoke and mirrors campaign to begin with. The crowds seemed to have evaporated. Here in Richmond, VA the bumper stickers are fewer, the crowd at the 4th annual “Republican Round Up” in Richmond (an Eric Cantor event) had 3x’s the crowd than the past.

I was Charlottesville yesterday on Carter Mountain. Every year there’s an apple picking festival up there and we’ve gone with friends for the past 8 years. Thousands of people and only a handful of BO bumper stickers. In past years, the Gore and Kerry stickers were everywhere. C-ville is extremely liberal.

...True. The Stones or U2 would’ve packed the place.

Don’t forget Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. They have been my #1 for 28 yrs. I see them everytime they come to town. Lots of young people go too, which pleases me.

Grandpa Jones on his worst day was better than Springsteen on his best.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ol Rattler was a good ole dog
as blind as he could be
but every night at suppertime
I swear that dog could see

I would rather spend fifteen minutes with Grandpa Jones than hear any concert Springsteen ever did.

I knew Sprinsteen was overblown when George Will mentioned him favorably in one of his columns.

Sprinsteen has been a bore for at least twenty five years. imho.

I was never a fan of his either. I never cared for his music and he is so darn unattractive that I can’t stand to look at him for any period of time.
