Barack Obama has already brought change: He's ended the "chilling effect."
Any restrictions on speech - real or imagined - were once inevitably deemed to have a "chilling effect" on people who would otherwise exercise their First Amendment rights if they weren't so frightened by the possibility of running afoul of the law. Claims of a "chilling effect" were the most reliable weapon in the American Civil Liberties Union's absolutist campaign against, say, even the most common-sensical laws against obscenity.
But the politics of free speech has been subtly shifting. Opponents of the ACLU on the right increasingly worry about overreaching rules against "hate speech" defining legitimate opinions as out of bounds.

This is the absolute scariest aspect of an Obama presidency. I’d rather be bombed by terrorist than have my first amendment right taken away. We are fighting a war against terrorism...wait until the “Fairness Doctrine” gets brought up in congress...you think the phone calls were off the hook on the bailout...wait until that happens....we will fight a civil war over this...hope he is ready for that once he so as much as attempts to take this right away from us.
Marx had an apt name for them, I think.
The left is trying to do here what’s already been largely accomplished in Europe. Look to Europe (and Canada) to see what’s next for us.
Free Speech should not be a partisan issue, it should be something all Americans can agree on. Sad.
I have for years maintained there is a First Amendment right to lie..............this means that the people have the right to print stuff like woman gives birth to alien, etc...........
And it certainly protects TRUTH
These people that attempt to define truth likek truth commissions will fail
500 rounds of 9mm is what? $100. A good investment in this day and age, IMO. Heck, .22 is really cheap.
Even the leftists are concerned about this, because they’ve got (in the long ago words of Jesse Jackson) no connection at the mass level with Obama’s org people.
