I believe Robert Bennett, a Washington lawyer and big dem, was the special prosecute for the Keating scandal. He has many times that John McCain should never have been included in the Keating 5. And...he’s said this repeatedly within the past year. (He’s also Bill Bennett’s brother)

“Wasn’t McCain found not guilty in the Keating Five Scandal?”

Do you really expect the ads will be intellectually honest?

LOL.

And are we to think that they would have not brought this up any way?

The problem is that the Keating Five scandal parallels the current Wall Street shenanigans far too closely for comfort.

Yes,  and again it was the Democrats. No evidence of any wrongdoing by Senator McCain.

I can’t believe the Obama people would bring up the Keating thing. Oh please, what a waste of money.

I’m guessing there is only a very small minority of voters that know about, or remember keating 5. The fact that it resembles the current economic crisis is a bit distrubing. While the ayers/rezko obama connections are more damning, its hard to create a strong narrative from it. All Obama has to do is say Keating 5/wall street/troopergate and the useful idiots will eat it up.

Going negative against this guy won’t work.

This is just a stall tactic. They really won’t be able to pin anything damaging on McCain with this informaion, but it will divert attention away from Obama with the help of the MSM. Obama is in a prevent defense now, sensing he has a solid enough lead to win the election. The McCain campaign needs to find a couple of really damaging issues for Obama and stick with them.

Charles Keating was McCain’s friend, sponsor and contributer.

The minute that there was a hint of impropriety, McCain severed all connections and refused to intercede. I would call that integrity.

Maybe this attack will make John Glenn angry enough to come forward and set the record straight.

Exactly. And people here? PLEASE STOP WITH THE KEATING EXPLANATIONS ALREADY!! Sheesh. Man up.
As soon as you start babbling about it and explaining it, Obama’s side wins by successfully changing the subject.

McCain should be hitting back with Mae and Mac.

Instead, he’s going to lay down and take it....

Open book. That is exactly the tack that McCain campaign should take. My life is an open book. What about yours? What about your time and work at Columbia and Harvard? Why so secretive? Do you feel it is none of America's business? Why fight a lawsuit about your birth certificate? why not just produce it? Etc. Etc.

Go after Obama's secretiveness. That will be the key to planting doubt about this closet marxist.

Bring it on Ba-rocko. Take your best shot and then let’s take a look at your birth certificate too while we are at it.

This is what I would like to see McCain do if Obama brings it up in a debate. “My Friend that happened 20 years ago and I regret ever making the mistake and has never done it since. Twenty years ago Senator Obama you admitted to being a cokehead, I have this serile urine bottle for drug testing and if you agree we can send your sample to an independent lab to see if that mistake of yours from 20 years ago is still going on”

Where exactly is the mistake in judgment that he should apologize for? As soon as he learned that Keating was under investigation, he cut off all ties and refused to provide ANY more help to him. Isn’t that the kind of judgment that we want? That’s why McCain was exonerated - the fact that they pronounced him guilty of a lapse in judgment is recognized by most impartial observers as simply a way of keeping the scandal “bipartisan”.

Why? Given the Keating 5, we could highlight the co-conspirators of the current bailout the Kriminal 535 (less those who voted against twice), three of who are on the ticket. Given the tough choices we have to make...Barack & Joe lose in a landslide...Sarah wins by default...and McCain rides her skirt-tails to the presidency.
