In recent elections when a high-profile Roman Catholic Democrat seeks high, or higher office, the issue of abortion surfaces. As the pro-choice, non-Catholic Obama makes a play for evangelical voters, conservative Catholics are asking their fellow believers to take seriously the church's teaching on abortion and not cast their vote for Obama and Catholic Joe Biden. The split in Democratic ranks is along political as well as theological lines. A group calling itself Faithful Catholic Citizens (FCC) has produced two powerful television commercials. Both spots begin with a confrontational question: "Are you truly Catholic" and follow with "Meet the Press" in which Nancy Pelosi asserts Catholic teaching on abortion is inconsistent. Cardinal Egan is then quoted as saying about Pelosi's statement, "utterly incredible." This quote is followed by one from the late Pope John Paul II, who called abortion "the deliberate killing of an innocent human being." Then comes a reference to Obama on abortion from Rick Warren's forum in which Obama said that knowing when life begins is "above my pay grade." (VIEW BOTH ADS BY CLICKING HERE)

Hammer and tong, baby.
Shouldn’t they likewise stop or curtail divorce?
Abortion is the quintessential “liberal” issue because
the most innocent person imaginable
pays for, with it’s very life,
the consequences of the irresponsible
sexual behavior decisions of another person.
Abortion is the main issue. Until everyone understands that, the world will never be at peace. If this world will kill the most innocent, respect for any object, place, person or persons will never be realized.
The culture of death is truly killing everyone in either a literal or spiritual way.
My 2 cents anyway.
Very well put. I agree with you 100%. The sad thing is that too many Catholics are blind to the obvious. They still believe in the “Seamless Garment” nonsense.
Having said that, I would dearly love to see the church take the sacrament of matrimony more seriously, but I think that the problem varies from one diocese to the next. JM2C
The problem is not divorce....
The church does prevent remarriage unless some fairly stringent requirements are met.
Besides in the usual course of events barring major psychiatric illness, divorce doesn’t end up fatal for the children.
Just for the record, it’s NOT the divorce that puts one at odds with the church but the REMARRIAGE contrary to the canon law of the church.
