PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama comes out edgy and p.o.-ed tonight.

If McCain plays “nicey” I could see Obama ranting, “Cut the crap, old man, you and your pit bull have been attacking me for three days.” (not a literal translation)

Obama is a punk.

And punks, punk-off.

I hope he lays off the Ayers/Wright attacks tonight.

Why? I think McCain should start beating that horse, as well as Obama's connection to ACORN. If the economy's beating McCain then McCain should be showing how Obama helped create the wreck.

I would really like McCain to hit Obama on the union thug card check bill tonight. Make him DEFEND that piece of legislation, it’s a job killer!

Retirement Accounts Have Lost $ 2 Trillion

I was chatting with a friend today. He was concerned because his defined benefit pension may have dropped too far below the funding requirement. Which means it may be subject to complex rules the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation administers. So he is looking forward to retiring on about 50% less right now. He is very lucky. He is fully vested and over age 65. And, he is still working.

People with 401(k) programs have to take their risks and swim with sharks in the big pond. People may be very angry tonight for the Big Debate. The audience may be looking for blood. Get your popcorn ready.

Alot of newscasters, even on Fox, have been suggesting that it would be a negative for McCain to bring up Ayers tonight. Their reasoning is that everyone is only concerned with the economy at this time. I think there is ample time for different types of discussions. During the last debate with McCain/Obama, they changed the original forum to include the economy. Well, this time they can include other things as well.

or how about his thugs, calling themselves the Truth Squad, intimidating freedom of speech in Missouri. I'm glad the Governor intervened, but I think this would make a very interesting point.

We know what they are hiding- his true citizenship status.

But in terms of a litigation device, it is not an unusual manuever.

I remember the horrors of the bombings........Ayers belongs in jail....he should be fried on this issue..he launched his political career in the living room of a terrorist. Ayers is no different from Tim McVeigh or Osama.........and Obama is up to his armpits in hate America and hate whitey...it may be sophisticated in Obama’s circle....in flyover country it's criminal.

The fact that there are idiots that need this debate on 10/7 to make up their minds is . . .

Yeah, and it's kinda depressing to know that your vote is only there to cancel out the vote of some liberal arts undeclared student from (insert local university here).

Someone should do a parody of the charity commercials that solicit money to feed the starving, only it would say "Please, vote today. It only takes 15 minutes of your time, and doesn't cost you a dime. And as a bonus, we'll even send you a picture of the braindead hippie whose vote you kept in check."

Yes, he should attack across the board. But more importantly, in my view he must not EVER allow an important debate point/criticism to go unchallenged and he should make sure he always has the last word on any important issue that polling indicates is having a significant impact on people’s decision making process.

While I thought Palin overall won her debate due to how she connected with people, she lost several points because she didn’t get the last word. McCain isn’t going to wow people with his dynamic personality, he needs to win on points. He has to respond 10 times on the same issue if necessary. One way to do that without being too repetious is to point out that your opponent has said the same thing several times and has not in fact provided an adequate explanation or is in fact telling a lie.

DO NOT LET OBAMA HAVE THE LAST WORD ON ANY IMPORTANT ISSUE!

If I hear the word “maverick” or “sheriff” tonight, I will puke. What the hell does that mean?? To me, a “maverick” is someone with no dicipline who will lash out at anything that annoys him. I want a steady hand in the Oval Office.
