You Guys Are Nuts (Face it, McCain is Toast)

You Guys Are Nuts [Andy McCarthy]

We have a disaster here — which is what you should expect when you delegate a non-conservative to make the conservative (nay, the American) case. We can parse it eight ways to Sunday, but I think the commentary is missing the big picture.

Here's what Obama needed to do tonight: Convince the country that he was an utterly safe, conventional, centrist politician who may have leftward leanings but will do the right thing when the crunch comes.

Now, as the night went along, did you get the impression that Obama comes from the radical Left? Did you sense that he funded Leftist causes to the tune of tens of millions of dollars? Would you have guessed that he's pals with a guy who brags about bombing the Pentagon? Would you have guessed that he helped underwrite raging anti-Semites? Would you come away thinking, "Gee, he's proposing to transfer nearly a trillion dollars of wealth to third-world dictators through the UN"?

Nope. McCain didn't want to go there. So Obama comes off as just your average Center-Left politician. Gonna raise your taxes a little, gonna negotiate reasonably with America's enemies; gonna rely on our very talented federal courts to fight terrorists and solve most of America's problems; gonna legalize millions of hard-working illegal immigrants.

McCain? He comes off as Center-Right .. or maybe Center-Left ... but, either way, deeply respectful of Obama despite their policy quibbles.

Great. Memo to McCain Campaign: Someone is either a terrorist sympathizer or he isn't; someone is either disqualified as a terrorist sympathizer or he's qualified for public office. You helped portray Obama as a clealy qualified presidential candidate who would fight terrorists.

If that's what the public thinks, good luck trying to win this thing.

With due respect, I think tonight was a disaster for our side. I'm dumbfounded that no one else seems to think so. Obama did everything he needed to do, McCain did nothing he needed to do. What am I missing

Oh, I’m gonna vote. But so is Juan, Jose, Mohammed, Achmed, Raji, etc. This isn’t America anymore. All we can do is what we can do. The Obamanoids have been hypnotized by “The One.”

What are you missing? I don't know, a spine maybe?

So Obama showed up and didn't wet his pants and beg for mommy, did you REALLY expect that would happen?

The format sucks, the debate was a snooze fest, big deal. If he's REALLY 9 points behind he's toast anyway, if he's not this won't matter.

I agree. I’m not fond of McCain, but the alternative is unthinkable. I bet if there had been a Freerepublic when Reagan debated Carter there would be posters here complaining

Yes, you are right. Pray people, pray to God to save our country from that socialist terrorist-loving Muzzie communist bum.

There, fixed it.

Agreed.

McCain pointed out that Obama was tied to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

He also did a great job reminding Americans that Obama is going to raise our taxes to pay for his gazillion dollars in social programs.

Obama is a complete and total nightmare for our economic future, and I am confident that Sarah is going to remind Americans everywhere about this in the coming days.

to quote the famous South Park episode in 2004: voting between a douche bag and a turd sandwich.

And what is soooo depressing about 2008 is that this time around, we have a much bigger douche bag, and an even more repugnant turd sandwich from which to choose.

I'll give you another great quote (well, OK, paraphrase), this one from Triumph the Insult Comic Dog:

Obama or McCain, which one should I pick? It's like choosing which puddle of vomit to lick.

I see nothing but annoying, whining posts from you, you’re doing a great imitation of an enemy agent. Congratulations. I’m sure after we win we’ll hardly hear a peep out of you.

don`t be so dramatic.

those who take politics personally lose their objectivity .

i`m saying i`m a classical liberal and make mccain look like a socialist.

divorce yourself from your bias and be objective, mccain whiffed AGAIN on the Bi Lie that it is 8 years of bush that created the mortgage crisis. mccain allowed the template to be created, the big lie. too late now

"This was one boring debate and McCain did himself no good."

So no one here gets the wrong idea I'm voting McCain Palin. Having said that if McCain had used some of recent speech material to the "debate" Obama would still be stuttering. McCain's nice guy approach doesn't cut it. He needs to hit hard and often in the last debate.

Yeah, he’s a genius. Just like that ol’ devil W who’s going to be a real conservative after the 2004 election.

Just wait, you’ll see. A few months to go, but I’m real series, he’ll go all conservative on January 19th.

I wish I could remember better-—watch for a repeat. Rove really went step-by-step. Maybe I can find a transcript tomorrow.

Right now Dick Morris is saying some very new details on Ayers and why Morris changed his mind on the importance of the Ayers’ association.

No, the nail hasn’t met the head until Nov 4 after the votes are counted, and until then, I can never forget all the things that Obama will do to destroy this nation, that McCain won’t do. McCain’s not my hero either-no human who ever lived is, only one person who ever came to this earth-but he’s what we have to work with. Do we try to plug the leaks in the boat until we can patch it right, or do we just shrug our shoulders, take a swig, and say screw it, at least we’ll be numb going down?

20% of the white democrats who will never vote for a black person under any circumstances
Where did you get this number? There was a rather sloppy analysis that put this at 6% recently, but I hadn't seen 20% anywhere.

Pro-McCainism 2 years ago was grounds for zotting on FR. You support a socialist and its eating away at your heart and soul.
