You Guys Are Nuts (Face it, McCain is Toast)

You Guys Are Nuts [Andy McCarthy]

We have a disaster here — which is what you should expect when you delegate a non-conservative to make the conservative (nay, the American) case. We can parse it eight ways to Sunday, but I think the commentary is missing the big picture.

Here's what Obama needed to do tonight: Convince the country that he was an utterly safe, conventional, centrist politician who may have leftward leanings but will do the right thing when the crunch comes.

Now, as the night went along, did you get the impression that Obama comes from the radical Left? Did you sense that he funded Leftist causes to the tune of tens of millions of dollars? Would you have guessed that he's pals with a guy who brags about bombing the Pentagon? Would you have guessed that he helped underwrite raging anti-Semites? Would you come away thinking, "Gee, he's proposing to transfer nearly a trillion dollars of wealth to third-world dictators through the UN"?

Nope. McCain didn't want to go there. So Obama comes off as just your average Center-Left politician. Gonna raise your taxes a little, gonna negotiate reasonably with America's enemies; gonna rely on our very talented federal courts to fight terrorists and solve most of America's problems; gonna legalize millions of hard-working illegal immigrants.

McCain? He comes off as Center-Right .. or maybe Center-Left ... but, either way, deeply respectful of Obama despite their policy quibbles.

Great. Memo to McCain Campaign: Someone is either a terrorist sympathizer or he isn't; someone is either disqualified as a terrorist sympathizer or he's qualified for public office. You helped portray Obama as a clealy qualified presidential candidate who would fight terrorists.

If that's what the public thinks, good luck trying to win this thing.

With due respect, I think tonight was a disaster for our side. I'm dumbfounded that no one else seems to think so. Obama did everything he needed to do, McCain did nothing he needed to do. What am I missing

“A vote for any third party is a wasted vote and a vote for Obama.”

Why is is wasted? Because my candidate won’t win? Well, if you vote for McCain in California, he’s not going to win. Yeah, I know, everyone loves to bash polls here, but McCain really has no hope of winning California. Are the people voting for McCain anyway wasting their vote?

The reason why this obsession over polls is corrosive is that it might depress turnout. There are a lot of California Freepers and I expect that most of them will turn out to vote for McCain, but isn’t that just a waste, according to you?

The only wasted vote is a vote not cast.

McCain blew telling the truth about the CRA,Fannie Mae, Frank and Dodd ad allowed the Big Lie to become the truth. He blew the economic debate, the dominant issue.

It's true. I really think that our candidate takes campaign advice from the corporate media. "He can't go negative!" "Ayers? Who cares!" "That'll turn off the undecided voters!" "(fill in the blank) might be construed as racist!" "Etc.!" He faces an opponent who is obviously, flagrantly ignorant of any and all relevant topics and doesn't even try to build off of that huge advantage. This Entire campaign has frustrated the hell out of me. Mister nice guy will not win against an agressive, well funded, well organized campaign.

Obama's a nobody. His sponsors and associates are the key to identifying him, and thus allowing us to paste a target on him. But they're off limits! The most bizarre premises are foisted by the "moderator",and they're accepted! Joe Lieberman,a democrat, tells the press what McCain's rules will be, and the outcome is assured. What's going on here? We're watching a leninist takeover of the United States Government occuring, and can't think of anything but weak talking points to prevent this. Are we throwing this thing or what? Do we want to win? What are we afraid of?

Apparently, no one at the RNC realized that sooner.

No. We as conservatives did this to ourselves. A year ago, we were all whining about the candidates who were better than McCain but weren't perfect:

"Mitt's a Mormon and a flip-flopper"
"Fred doesn't have the fire in his belly"
"Anyone but Hunter is part of the RudyMcRomneyson wing of the Republican Party"

We did this to ourselves because we couldn't stick to a solid candidate, and now we have McCain.

Fortunately, he picked Palin. She's the silver lining.

If you vote third party and we get Obama, then you deserve whatever comes out of it. Your third party candidate won't be in sight on Jan. 20.

“Obama destroys this nation forever”

Gee, you have an awfully low opinion of America.

An Obama presidency may be painful, but it’s not going to destroy this nation any more than 8 years of Clinton, did. Why don’t you just pledge to leave the country if the wrong guy wins like Alec Baldwin did?

But Thompson didn’t have “fire” in his belly

_______________________

I so wish that he had half the fire he displayed when he ran for Senate. Watching the old Thompson tear through zero would have lit this board up like a Christmas tree.

Being nice and bi-partisan means more to McCain than his principles which were not all that conservative to begin with.

I’ll still vote for him though. He is clearly better than the other guy no matter how much we vent.

YOU don’t understand how dangerous that man is.

I’m sure many Germans felt the same way, that Der Vaterland would survive a Hitler chancellorship, too.

If you don’t think an Obama win in November is the most dangerous crisis we’ve ever faced, then you’re naive.

McCain did okay tonight (as well as an unbalance, non-conservative can that is). He debated respectfully, made some good digs at Barry and set the table for continued bomb lobs from his VP candidate. If he had been any more forceful, he would have come off as panicked. There is no need to panick . . . yet.

Obama's a nobody. His sponsors and associates are the key to identifying him, and thus allowing us to paste a target on him.

Look up "Primo Carnera" and "Owney Madden" sometime to see an earlier example of the same phenomenon in the world of sports.

Why are you a CANADIAN posting this crap and stirring up dissension and attacking the Republican nominee for President

You`re becoming as irrational as an obama zombie.

I posted an article from a renowned American Magazine founded by a stalwart of the Conservative movement in an American Conservative/Libertarian web site.

So, spare me your hysterics and think rationally.
