Nominating the “moderate” politician automatically gives credibility to the Democrats’ central premise - that government is the solution. Once you admit this, the Democrats have the better arguments. This is the fundamental flaw behind triangulation.
It is so clear that we should have nominated Fred Thompson.
Fred Thompson proudly supports McCain.
But Thompson didn’t have “fire” in his belly, or so NRO, the punditry and some here told us. Funny. I don’t think Fred would be so relunctant to call Obama and the Libs out out and I’m damn sure he would have had no issue defending conservatism.
I don’t think Fred would have nominated Sarah for his VP though.
So it’s a mixed bag.

Yep. Fate blew an ill wind to America the day he had to walk away from the majority of Republicans because they were just plain stupid. Fred was spot on correct for about 98% of the issues.
