Maybe it has no direct impact, but it is indicative of what is happening all across the country.

McCain has not been able to frame, in clear and simple terms, how conservative ideals (particularly on economics and foreign policy) stave off the types of problems we are seeing and how ideals such as those espoused by Obama led to our present difficulties at home and abroad. Palin can do it, but she has not had enough time to learn the verbal ropes. She is clear, but she does not speak with the authority of a Reagan or a Goldwater.

I, myself, believe that they ought to put Palin as the lead figure in commercials and turn it into a Palin vs. Obama battle. We would still put the man with experience in office and who would save our independence and our constitution.

But lacking this type of clarity, RINOs are going to be free to forsake their conservative constituents.

Well, I voted for Palin. She brings some baggage with her but I will tolerate it for now.

Well, it seems to me that is addition by subtraction, especially if Haggard is off the stage, the man fell and lost all credibility.

I suspect that Egan is saying that publicly but someone else is working privately and quietly.

As for the councilwoman...whatever....

*She is a 58 year old single woman who describes herself as open-minded and progressive. She says she is ‘moderate to liberal’*
Does she sound like someone who would be a conservative? I doubt McCain could appeal to her and Palin never would. It is good that she has found her own. If she attends gay parties she would like be more in tune with Democrats and that is not to knock Log Cabin Republicans, but she is likely not conservative.

What data do you have to support this assertion? I doubt it "is happening all across the country" but I'd believe facts and figures if you have them. If not, forget it.

I agree with your assertion that McCain has made a mistake in not promoting Conservative solutions to Liberal problems. As predicted, running as a “moderate” would be his demise.

The Democrats usually benefit during the early stages of any crisis; true Republicans will eventually clean up the mess and get some credit...until complacency sets in and it starts all over again.
