Hispanics Turn Cold Shoulder to McCain
The Politico ^ | October 9, 2008 | Ben Smith

Posted on 10/09/2008 7:09:23 PM PDT by St. Louis Conservative

Despite championing immigration reform in 2007, John McCain is poised to lose the Hispanic vote by a landslide margin that is well below President George W. Bush's 2004 performance.

Polls show Obama winning the broadest support from Latino voters of any Democrat in a decade, while McCain is struggling to reach 30 percent, closer to Senator Bob Dole's dismal 1996 result than to Bush's historic 40% four years ago.

McCain seems to have wound up with the worst of both worlds: He appears to be getting no credit from Latino voters for his past support for immigration reform, while carrying the baggage of other Republicans' hostility to illegal immigration.

Just another reason why he never should have supported it to begin with. Stabbed in the back, but many of us could have called that.

Right. There’s no point in catering to them or any other minorities. Close the border, close down Acorn. If you bend over and let them do anything they want, they just f#@k you, treat you with contempt, and walk away. We don’t need that, and we don’t need them.

Ok I am a Hispanic. Most Hispanics vote democrat...not only because of welfare, but also because the Republican party has never welcomed or sought after their votes....

Tell us what the GOP could do to entice the hispanics to vote GOP?

Not all of us are interested in race politics. It’s stupid to seek divisions in a nation wove together by many. You can be an American or you can be whatever else you want to be but you can’t be both.

I’m of german heritage, when was the last time you heard us whine about a party not pandering to us?

Maybe if McCain was a little more “bi-partisan” or “reached across the aisle” more often. ~sarc

Most Hispanics I have spoken with are voting for Obama because he is "Not White". As if all people of color are the same.

Maybe now’s a good time to take it all back and win some conservatives! “Build the wall and ship all illegals out asap”! It would work for me!!

So Hispanics will be voting like they always have?

Well John may get a chance to think about that in the first 120 days of his retirement.

Please God, he will retire if he loses won’t he?

Strange as it may seem to those biased reporters out there, if John McCain would sincerely revoke his part in McCain/Kennedy and insist in securing our borders, he would gain far more American votes, Caucasian and Mexican, than he would lose from La Raza votes, imo.

It is conservatism that must be presented to Hispanics. When you show them what conservatism is and what it stands for, Hispanics will realize that their values are conservative values and not liberal. I should know, I am a Hispanic and a conservative.

And if you go to a phone bank, don’t wait for them to give you a Hispanic list, ask for one. If none is available, go door-to-door in Hispanic neighborhoods. Be proactive about it. Every time I talk with other Hispanics, I try to speak about my values and show them how conservative their values truly are.

Conservatives are at disadvantage, since most Hispanics get their news from liberal sources, not to mention education.

But the key is to engage them and show them that conservatism is the way out of poverty. Instead of waiting for a handout, work for it. We are a proud people, but handouts breed laziness, which leads to dependency, ending at liberalism. We have to break this cycle!

WHY WOULD YOU EVER GO TO SOMEONES HOUSE, WHEN YOU DONT FEEL WELCOMED?

Sort of puts republicans in a bind - either they can lockstep endorse illegal immigration or lose the Hispanic vote.

Better to vote for your economic and political self interest than to vote to encourage others to break the nation's laws. The other approach is to vote for all the handouts possible, which is the viewpoint the Democrats are encouraging.

Views differ on why McCain hasn't exploited this issue. "He just doesn't have the stomach for pandering," said Navarro. LOL........

ROTFL----that's a good one, alright. Now how bout this?

Five Million Fraudulent Mortgages Held by Illegals -----

As TADSLOS posted This is the mortgage loan crisis hidden story coming to light. This is why Bush and McCain had that glazed over, defeated look in their eyes urging the bailout bill being passed. They have been hoisted on their own shamnesty petards.

N-i-c-e take, eh? Sucking up to latinos allowed the US economy to go down the drain. This is a crime of massive proportions. Candidate McC's trying to distance himself from Bush but the two of them look like ignorant dupes of amnesty hustlers. The two *******s got suckered into undermining US law-----and ended up destroying the US economy----sucking up to Third World con artists.

$50 BILLION was being taken out of our economy every year, transferred to Mexico.....but the two idiots still did not "get it."

Outrageously, they ignored the pleas of taxpayers and the reasoned arguments against amnesty. Now we are paying the price for their monumental stupidity.

Wait till the facts emerge that illegals drained our treasury using multiple identities to collect EITC, Soc/Sec. Workmen's Comp, SSI, welfare, food stamps, free health care, free schooling, housing allowances, etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum. welfare.

The invaders shut down numerous hospitals, sued everything in sight, overburdened our justice system committing viscious crimes, and made big bucks selling drugs to American youth.

Now they'll retire in luxury to beachfront condos with multiple US govt checks rolling in. Even when they go back, US checks will be blanketing the Third World til doomsday. Plus Latino federales are salivating over the massive transfer of US wealth via a jet-propelled federal assembly line HEADED STRAIGHT INTO THEIR POCKETS.

BTW, Did McC torpedo Juan Hernandez yet (/sarc)? McC needs to send this SOB Hernandez packing, subito.

First off I would never be able to speak to them. I don't speak spanish. Second, the only hispanic neighborhoods I know of I would NOT be welcomed.

Could not be happening to a more deserving guy (snicker).

Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm for most Hispanic neighborhoods. And you’re right, if you don’t know spanish you would be wasting your time. But I’ll keep trying.

Wouldn't that be insanely nightmarish - McCain-Kennedy being revived just as the country sinks into a deep recession, with Obama in the White House and the democrats controlling both houses?

McCain is being buried by CFR (Obama who already has the huge advantage of the 24/7 MSM....is now outspending him daily by millions on TV ads) all because of McCain's CFR....

And here on immigration he is being whacked from both sides as well - Well, Mr. McCain.....This sucks, for our great Nation.
