Reagan had one message and stayed on it ... McCain does NOT ... yet ... yes, he has to hit Ayers et al but he also has to give people a positive, SIMPLE reason for people to vote FOR him, and the future he will help them experience ... You know of Reagan or Newt were running thy would stay on THE problem-solution single-focus message ... with just three weeks left what would you suggest McCain's one core message be?

Palin should go out and blame the economy on Congress, the bailout, on insiders (Biden, Obama and McCain) and the creep of socialism. McCain should say she’s right, she’s the advocate of the people- and that’s why I picked her, and that’s why she sits with me in the white House.

Ayers is good enough. Obama’s only executive experience is being the employee of a guy who bombed the Capital and the Pentagon.

Oil = Jobs
Coal = Jobs
Refineries = Jobs

You don’t try to have auto manufacturing plants in American towns to get cars cheaper or so Saudi Arabia can’t cut off our supply of cars. You do for jobs. Stop shipping those high-paying energy jobs overseas.

As long as anyone in China is using a petroleum product we should be the ones selling it to them.

I watched the 1980 Debate and for some reason do not remember Gov. Reagan promising to spend 300 Billion to buy out people who made poor real estate investment decisions.

Obama is an unqualified fraud who has been propped up by a biased media. Obama is unfit to be commander in chief and has no business tinkering with our economy.

This should be an interesting thread!

I’d say:

“I promise the American People two very important things:

#1 - I promise to secure our national security interests, including energy security, and do what needs to be done to keep us safe, at home and around the world

#2 - I promise to take swift action to restore stability to our economy, and to use all the power of my office as President to understand how this happened, seek punishment for those who are responsible, and take steps to make sure this never happens again.

Do these two things quickly and correctly, and there will be plenty of time to do everything else!

The Democrats got us into this financial mess, why trust them to get us out of it?

Man up, McCain. Step down and let Palin take the ticket in for the win. Country First.

McCain’s getting pounded on health care here in the Philly area - might explain why he’s losing some of the senior vote - no matter what else, he’d better get a good ad up soon defending his plan and demolishing Obama’s......

McCain/Palin:

“Democrats have spent years falsely claiming that Republicans gave tax loopholes to big business, all while Democrat cronies were frantically looting the financial institutions and retirement accounts of millions of Americans for hundreds of billions of dollars in stratospheric salaries, bogus bonuses, and political bribery disguised as campaign contributions.”

How about

The best way to fix the economic crisis is to create new jobs and put people back to work with cheaper oil, drill now, and cleaner energy.

Reagan had the advantage of being able to attack Carter's record, which was miserable at best. McCain will be on the defensive if he tries to defend the GWB record. The Dems have been in power for the last two years and he needs to attack their record and 0bama’s. Lay the economic crisis on their doorstep - high gas prices - lost jobs - the whole works. Keep shootin’ and don't stop. Pelosi’s approval rating is worse than Bush. Put plenty of hits on her, Barney Frank, Harry Reid and the rest of them.

Now is not the time for the shining city on a hill speech. If people are so stupid that they need a simple, single-message message they probably won't vote republican anyway.

One thing I am certain about....

McCain shouldn’t overemphasize the Ayers/Obama relationship.
He’ll be wasting a lot of money and accomplish very little.

PEOPLE IN GENERAL WON’T CARE.

Their main concern is the economy — their jobs, bank account, retirement funds.

HE BETTER TELL THEM HOW HIS PLAN IS BETTER THAN OBAMA’s ON THIS ISSUE OF THE FINANCIAL CRISIS AND THE TANKING ECONOMY.

Ayers/Obama is not on anyone’s mind right now.

Moving Forward with Security Now (McCains Experience) and a Bright Eye to the future (Sarah). EVERYTIME Obama/Biden mention Bush or republicans, ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!! on the basis of partisanship and looking BACKWARD not FORWARD which solves nothing as Bush is not running and pointing fingers (NOT OFFERING SOLUTIONS) solves nothing and does not answer the questions in the minds of the People!!
