Something's Bothering Me About Obama Talking About His Dying Mother & Her Health Insurance Problems
Hillary Clinton Forum ^ | 10-8-08 | Sandy in PA

Posted on 10/10/2008 6:14:51 AM PDT by Seattle Conservative

From Sandy in PA: obama said last night that his mother spent the last months of her life (when she was dying of cancer) lying in a hospital bed "fighting with the insurance company".

What's bothering me about this is:

a) That he is using his mother's death for political gain (but I'm not surprised) and I'm suspicious that he's lying anyway.

b) What kind of son or daughter allows their sick and dying mother to have to deal with the insurance company crap? I think a lot of us can attest to stepping in and dealing with the insurance company when our parents, grandparents or relative were too sick to do it.

c) Did he not previously say that he regretted not spending more time with his mother before she died? So if he wasn't there, how does he know she was lying there fighting the insurance company?

You know, I would not normally question someone who says this sort of thing, because I know people have problems with their insurance companies, and so have I. But coming from him, its not only questionable, but I resent that he uses it for political gain, and if its true, what kind of son lets their sick mother deal with that kind of thing?

OK, sorry for the rant, but I just find this too disgusting and he just said it again in his campaign speech in Indiana today, of course to loud cheers from the crowd. It just makes me sick. I hope my comments haven't offended anyone. I just had to get this out.

"I had a single mom and my grandparents raised me and it was because of the help of scholarships and my grandmother scrimping on things that she might have wanted to purchase and my mom, at one point, getting food stamps in order for us to put food on the table."

It's all part of the "poor little Obama, he had nothing but misery when he was growing up" image that Michelle always mentions when she's campaigning for Obama. "This Poor little Obama" story is always told with Michelle hugging her little Obambi's, who also have their long, sad faces pasted on, with the little one poking a finger in her eye once in a while to make her eyes look watery.

You should change the headline of this thread to:

Michelle, Why Did You Leave Your Mother-in-law Dying in That Bed?

*wink*

I guess the Obamas are hoping we all turn our responsibility to our families over to the government, just like they did.

"Obama is angry man."

That's why I appreciate the good Reverend Wright. I may not agree with him, but he's honest. Remember, he's the one that told us Barrack knows what it means to be a black man in a country controlled by rich white people.

She died young because she exposed herself to dangerous viruses. She was a victim of the reverse colombian exchange. Obama’s playa daddy killed her. There I wrote it.

"He could have gone to work on Wall Street and easily made a half million bucks per year and helped out his mom. Instead, he decides to throw away that education and be a street walker."

Being tyed down to a 9-5 job didn't fit in with his and Ayers plans to take down American Capitalism and establish his Marxist empire.

Besides, the money was much better at Acorn and those other charitable organizations he worked on with Ayers. He was also raising money for Rev. Wright's church of venomous hatred, which obviously was another goldmine of under the table kick backs, judging by the size of Wrights retirement home.

Be a lawyer on wall street? Please! that is a mere "job".

If she was receiving Food Stamps, then yes she would be on Medicaid. All medicaid patients have FREE health care now, it is called the E.R.

What idiot try's to get insurance after the fact?

A dieing person does NOT bother themselves with thinking about how they are going to pay anything.

I know because my son died of cancer in 1987, trust me, he was not thinking of who was going to pay for anything, nor should he. We took care of all that for him.

Hussien you are such a liar.

"If she was in Portugal, where they have free medical care for all, she would most likely die in the hallway lying on a meat wagon waiting for a room. At least that is the way some have passed away thanks to their free medical care."

Why go to all the way to Portugal? All you need to do is go to Canada for that kind of free "health care".

I guess the media didn't want to run the story of a man who died waiting to see a emergency doctor in Canada. He was found dead 36 hrs later, when someone finally looked at him.

He was a paraplegic. All he needed was to have a catheter re-inserted and some antibiotics for a bladder infection.

Obama is dysfunctional and he is from a very dysfunctional family.

The question: why was he NOT there when his mother was dying?

Well, she gave him up and she didn’t have/want him in her life, so that’s NOT unusual, that she would be dying alone.

There is no way Obama should get away with representing his mother as any sort of example. She was a communist-loving, fanatical, irresponsible daughter and parent, and general low-life.

Anyone can see this. Why he would use her as an example, is very poor judgment on his part — but then judgment is not his best suit.

Really interesting point made by your son — there is a strange (and disturbing) detachment in Obama’s tone when he talks about ANY of his relatives... it's as though he thinks of them as extras in the movie of HIS life...

I think the detachment masks HUGE amounts of anger — anger at a dad who abandoned him, anger at a step-father who did the same, anger at a mother with terrible judgement about men who shuttled her son back and forth without regard for his best interests...

Even a deep anger at the ONLY people who ever stepped up and did anything to help him — his affluent, elderly, white grandparents... with whom he desperately wants to get even.

Over time he has learned to surpress and mask his anger — but he does so with a phony intellectualism... he channels all of his anger into a nasty and desire for class warfare.

Honestly — he is a seriously damaged human being — and I am afraid he wants to make us all pay for the pain he has experienced in life.

“One other thing, my wife says I’m being a little heartless but this whole bit about Joe Biden choking up everytime he talks about his first wife’s death and raising his kids up alone is a little too much.

Am I being too cynical on this? My wife thinks I am. I just find the tears and choking up on cue during the debate and out on the stump a little too much for me.”

I’m a sentimental and like to think of myself as a caring and compassionate person. I mist up over various things, including at times Extreme Homemakeover and some of the posts on FR. That said, call me cynical too when it came to Joe on the debate - - it really seemed like a put on to me to get sympathy (that’s what I thought to myself at the time). I just didn’t buy it.

Why didn’t you take care of your WHITE mother as she lay dying, Obama?

I’ll answer that for you....

Because Michelle hates white people

Anyone know where his younger 1/2 sister was during this time?

Didn't Obama himself decide to stay with g'ma and g'pa as he was tired of traipsing around the world with mom? Did the 1/2 sis stay with g'parents, or did she travel with mom?

At any rate, this man has some serious mommy issues. As with his 1/2 brother, he apparantly feels that none of this is his responsibility, it was the job of government to pay mom's insurance and to give 1/2 bro a check for just breathing air.

Your point emphasizes his lies: If Hawaii has universal health at her death, then she WAS fighting the state - not the “insurance” company.

"Obama is angry man. His father left him and his mother rejected him. He had an identity crisis because he is biracial and was raised in a white household. As a result, he embraced the politics of black radicalism. He hates whites and America. And he wants to settle a score with them. If Obama is elected, racial/ethnic division is this country will grow as he uses it to cement his political power. Obama is a very dangerous person."

probably why he's a closet homosexual as well. He hates women because of the rejection from his mother, which happened more than once. She probably didn't want him around when she was "courting" for a second husband, that behavior alone would have been very upsetting to a young Muslim boy whose views on the proper behavior of a woman already etched into his mind.

Obama has a childhood very similar to Mohammad's, full of rejection and abandonment by his mother, shuffled off to live with relatives. Mohammad was a megalomaniac as well, just like Obama.

Hawaii had universal health care in 1995. What was her status under that plan. Was she a resident of Hawaii. She may have been fighting with the Hawaii Health Care System.

Were they fighting her because Hawaii didn't consider her to be a citizen????

According to the NYTimes, she was living in New York City and went back to Hawaii the last few months of her life.

“She was a very, very big thinker,” said Nancy Barry, a former president of Women’s World Banking, an international network of microfinance providers, where Ms. Soetoro worked in New York City in the early 1990s. “I think she was not at all personally ambitious, I think she cared about the core issues, and I think she was not afraid to speak truth to power.”

I wondered about that the day after the debate.
# 1981, New York City: Just a Bizarre Coincidence?

Okay, now how do Ayers and Obama in NYC 1981 meet? A go-between? Chance? Was Obama sent to look for Ayers?

Okay .. I guess there is an earlier question. Why did Obama switch from Occidental to Columbia?

And I guess, out of curiosity, why did Obama mention his mom last night, because it was all about him? Why was his mom negotiating with drug companies about pre-existing coverage, just months begfore her death in 1995? Wouldn't she have carried her "career" insurance plan for many years by then? That's strange.

And where was Stanley Ann in 1980-82? Her bio shows only a divorce from the Indonesian Dad in 1980. And that might have just been legal clock running down on a filing years earlier.
