AP: Legislative panel: Palin abused authority (AP Gotcha Headline)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.

The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.

The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a commissioner to settle a family dispute. Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated.

Monegan says he was dismissed as retribution for resisting pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

But she didn't break any laws...which of course AP fails to mention in headline.

"Governor Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads."

Nuff said!

that’s why there isnt going to be too much hay made out of this...it was a pretty lame story to begin with...especially amongst the 87 percent who voted for her as governor.

Who cares anyway-—she did nothing wrong, it is all political—and BS—nothing near as bad as the fact that Obambi plays with terrorists. This is a non-issue and complete BS. Besides the fact that the trooper is a loser who tasers 10 YO kids.

But since Sarah has an “R” next to her name, this “scandal” will be played up against her. If only she were a good Democrat this wouldn’t have seen the light of day.

AP = Anti Palin...fools!!

They say she UNLAWFULLY abused her powers, but she didn’t.
They found she didn’t break the law.
Right?

It’s a sad day when CNN has the more correct headline then Fox News.

“Finding Number One

. . . For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.11O(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.11O(a) provides

“The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.”

Finding Number Two

I find that, although Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.”

How bogus does it get? “A contributing factor”? That’s ALL? THAT’S abuse of power? The conclusion absolutely does NOT follow from the premise.

Can she talk about this now? I mean can we hear her side of this story now that this “report” is out?

100% right. But the AP article clearly is a “gotcha” to mislead the reader into thinking she was found guilty of doing something.

Which of course the finding is...no. No laws were broken.

Did Obama abuse his position but break no laws by donating large sums of money to ACORN?

Legislative panel is made of 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats. Are these Republicans stupid?

It was rather comical listening to the ABC News 'Reporters' on the radio announce this with bated breath, in anticipation of a press conference announcing Palin's withdrawal from the race.

I'm quite sure the Obamatized Media is very disappointed.
