Hints of victory creep into Obama's remarks

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Barack Obama says anything can happen in the remaining days to the election -- but he's sounding increasingly optimistic.

At a fundraiser last night in Philadelphia, Obama called it in some ways "a celebratory event." He said they were coming to the end of what he called "an extraordinary journey."

Obama also seemed to look ahead to his first term, talking about setting priorities and fights he's likely to have with his own party.

Obama and his supporters have some grounds for optimism. Polls show him leading in several battleground states. He told donors his lead in Virginia, which Democrats last carried in 1964, is 6 or 7%age points.

He might want to ask "presidents" Mondale, McGovern, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry about that "leading in the polls" deal. If he was a Christian, he'd have read about "pride goeth before a fall" also.

Classic PsyOps.

Media polls, strut around like it is already over, in an effort to demoralize the opponent. Judging by the comments on this forum, it looks like it is WORKING.

Americans need to step forward and screw this up for the Manchild. I hate arrogance.

Hey I just thought of this - if the dems are so confident they will win this thing do you think fewer dems will go to the polls and vote? Just a thought...

Let Obama thinks he’s won. Perhaps, his cult worshippers will stay home. :)

I will be surprised if Senator John McCain doesn't win in a LANDSLIDE rather than a 2004 style squeaker. That's all that'll surprise me: 25+ million PUMAs, all the women that're jazzed about Sarah Palin, Latinos that wouldn't vote for a black with a gun to their heads, Appalachia (which includes MANY swing states, geographically and/or culturally), the GOP base, conservatives that see Obama for the Marxist he is, moderates that like McCain, etc...

Especially the kids, blacks and 4:20's that he's counting on!

AS polls climb for Obama, more undecideds are looking at who
this character is. Once they get to know his economic policies,
I expect McCain to win on Nov 4th.

If the little Marxist runt has it in the bag, why is he losing among men, tied with McCain among women and helping his black nationalist thugs turn in bogus voter registrations?

Sounds like the creep is on the ropes and desperate.

Then again, those most susceptible to lies and propaganda are the propagandists themselves.

I would be so happy it would be one of the highlights of my life. Here is hoping and praying you are right.

Not just a thought but reality. How many times throughout history has the enemy been underestimated only to be the victor?

I agree. And it will be known as the "Obama Effect" which will far exceed the "Bradley Effect" in response to people who just couldn't bring themselves to vote for a socialist.

McCain has 21 solid states (I include WV because there is no way BHO wins there unless massive voter fraud occurs), totaling 163 electoral votes:

Now Assumptions. 3 States should stay GOP unless there is massive voter fraud. The social issues alone are enough to drive them.

Missouri - Should stay GOP
North Carolina - Should stay GOP
Indiana - Should stay GOP

That gets us to 200.

Next state to look at is FL. The I-4 corridor has grown more conservative and all McCain has to do is show up in the Democratic strongholds in % normal to Bush and he’ll be fine. In fact, McCain polls better in South Florida than Bush and if this holds true, he’ll win it by +3/4 New Total 227

Then Ohio. Only massive voter fraud turns this state blue. Otherwise it is very winnable for McCain. The Conservative voters + the PUMA’s in the southwest help him win this state. All my family is from Stark county and they say McCain is doing much better there than Bush did 4 years ago.

Virginia - Hampton Roads, the conservative west, and the fact McCain is military keeps him from getting too far blown out in NoVA. Again, unless there is massive voter fraud or conservatives stay home (like they did in 2006 and even then Allen still almost won), he should win this +3/4

That’s 260. Now let’s look at NH. Was it the Bradley effect or Hillary busing in her supporters or a combination of them both? I still like Mac’s chances here.

Maine’s second congressional district - competitive

Colorado, Nevada - Ever since Sarah was added to the ticket, I thought this states would come into line better. I still like McCain’s chances in CO.

On top of that WI, MN, and PA have got to be closer than what is being reported. Obama cannot be leading PA by 14%. Conservatives alone make up 47% of that state. Throw in the PUMA’s and none of the polls make any sense.
