I mean, it's just a feeling, just feel it and forget it! But here, we have a group that will do just about anything to not have to feel the uncomfortable feeling that they are envied in some way.
I had a Taoist teacher once who said that denial was the root of all evil. Now, I can actually see how that works.
Yes, it surprised me that he was so candid about it, using that very word in a mailing I received some time ago.
they seem to strongly externalize their hatred, toward others and be enormously self-satisfied, themselves and entirely convinced of their own self-righteousness.
I think your word externalization ties in with this directly...I wrote "transfer", another way to put it might be "projection", which is the transference of unconscious contents, but externalization is another way to put it I suppose.
For some people patterns of guilt are so intense that they can't keep it all to themselves...it is too much to deal with. Transference makes it more bearable. Paraphrasing a FReeper who wrote many months ago on this subject (as if speaking in the first person), "See, I'm not the only guilty one...the whole society is guilty, we are all guilty". That somehow makes it easier to bear because it falls on many other shoulders.
Once they've identified the guilt in the society at large (imperialism, racism, sexism, exploitation, etc.) and made the case in their own minds, it's much more convenient for certain personality types to direct the punishment outwards on others.
Self-haters of any race are so pathetic.
Due for release in 2009; Amazon taking advance orders now.
Of course.... The book is guilt ridden bull from a neurotic white boy from a rich family
