In VA, Palin Knocks Obama For Opposing Gun Rights

RICHMOND, VA - Gov. Sarah Palin added a line attacking her opponent for opposing gun rights Monday, while crooner Hank Williams, Jr., changed the lines of his song to fit the political event.

"We believe in the forward movement of freedom, not the constant expansion of government," Palin told a crowd at the Richmond International Speedway Monday. "And though Barack Obama disagrees, that freedom includes ... the rights and liberties under the Second Amendment."

Palin spoke to a crowd of about 20,000 people, according to the Associated Press. A large part of the crowd in the back could not hear her and yelled "Louder" several times during the speech. Palin, hearing the yells but unable to discern them, assumed they were protesters.

"I would hope at least that those protestors have the courage and the honor of thanking our veterans for giving them the right to protest," she said, as some people in front yelled "no" to try and explain the situation.

Palin was joined on stage by Hank Williams Jr., who sang the national anthem and a new song about the Republican presidential ticket.

Why do I get the feeling that the AP is again lowballing the trnout. Not the 20K people is small, but I've heard reports of 30K.

Regardless, Palin is ripping Osama Hussein and his leftist record to shreds.

They moved the venue because the crowd was supposed to be over 24K. Bunch of liars.

Indeed - The Sound system was not set to project to the back of the crowd.

A couple of times an announcer came on and her voice was well heard at the back, but the mikes at the podium were not properly tweaked. Several were leaving early out of inability to hear, me included.

What I would like to know is why I’m not seeing the crowds or the faces of the crown at 0bama’s rallies anymore

I’ve noticed that, too, you just don’t see a full, pull-backed shot of where he speaks. It’s always tight and always the same, dull faces in the background.

We got there at 10:30 and were 10 feet away from her...My God she is amazing. Hank was amazing...

The McCain/Palin supporters in the crowd around where we were standing were by far some of the nicest, kindest, most genuine and sincere American’s I have ever come into contact with — we were total strangers upon arrival at the rally and in less than 15 minutes we were chatting each other up and exchanging stories and making water runs for each other and taking pictures for each others groups — the time flew by.

I would like to personally thank the McCain/Palin campaign staff and the Secret Service for also handing out water — that was clearly a very nice thing to do..

That, was how American’s attend a rally.

Sarah showed up and the place just erupted in loud cheers and applause — and this, after most of us had waited in the hot sun from 10:30 until 2:00 pm to see her, she greeted us on such a personal level — I felt myself feeling proud to be an American — when she asked for all the Veteran’s to raise their hands my son looked at me and said, “she is talking to you,” and he was right — I have felt that John McCain and Sarah Palin have been talking to us since day one.

Clearly — from my vantage point — Governor Sarah Palin is real American Patriot — You just can tell how much she loves this country and all the positive and wonderful things that America stands for — The Love for her country comes though her, you just can’t help but see how much she loves this country...couple that with John McCain’s love for this country and all the years he spent in the Navy fighting for America and freedom and all the years he has spent in the Senate fighting for America and freedom and you just can’t help but think — John McCain and Sarah Palin must win this election — “they must,” America needs them to win now more than ever — the damage done to our great nation under an “nobama” administration would be devastating.

The crowd was fired up and you can bet your arse — there were closer to 30,000 in attendance.

I was talking to a Henrico County Deputy and a parking lot attendant and they both said that based upon the number of cars they would easily estimate between 25,000 and 30,000 were in attendance.

It was worth the drive, it was worth the wait, I will be there on November 5th, celebrating their victory. What an awesome rally.

God Bless America and God Bless John McCain and Sarah Palin.

This can't be true that Palin would attack Obama over gun rights because every day I hear a radio comercial that says Obama has always supported the 2nd Amendment.

And besides John McCain is just out of touch. (/s)

I was there today (in RIR). The crowd was HUGE. I couldn’t see the podium from where I stood, but I could hear every word. Behind me were thousands of people and many were young (teens and twenties). I was in Roanoke last week and the support was dominant for McCain/Palin. Not so in Richmond where I can see the bluing of the state with all the Obama signs and supporters. It was good to at the rally today.

WoW, we weren’t that far apart — (this isn’t a statement I can make but, “I was to the left,” just out of your picture, almost on the rail in front of the guy with the “I’m voting for the Chick!” sign.

My son was able to get Sarah’s autograph on his sign and we both were able to shake hands with Hank, Sarah, and Todd as they spent what seemed to me to be about 40-45 minutes shaking hands and signing autographs...

I was amazed at how up close and personal they let us get to them — “she smiled at my son and thanked him for coming out,” we were both impressed.
