Supporters lined up for our area's latest political visit and those getting tickets are really excited.
This is the first time Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is making a stop in northeastern Pennsylvania.
All day Monday people signed up for tickets for Sarah Palin's campaign rally Tuesday in Scranton.
Democrat Joe Biden had a rally in Scranton Sunday. Tuesday it's Republican Sarah Palin's turn and both are campaigning at the same place.
The Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton has become a center of the political world the past few days.
What was a crowd of cheering Obama-Biden supporters Sunday will be replaced by McCain-Palin fans Tuesday.
When supporters of John McCain and Sarah Palin heard the vice presidential candidate was coming to Scranton they rushed to get tickets. They don't want to miss Governor Palin's first stop in our area.
"We love her. We're excited, can't believe she's coming. We just got the call last night," said Karen Zayatz of Lakeville.
"Oh I can't wait. I'm actually going to go meet her backstage. I volunteer here and I got the opportunity to do that so I'm so excited!" said Katherine Dibello of Roaring Brook Township.
"I got my ticket and I'm proud of our candidates this year, very proud of them," said Dominic Mattei of Old Forge.
The Alaska Governor has been spending a lot of time in the Keystone State. She made five stops over the weekend alone including one at a pumpkin patch in Centre County.
Supporters said they connect to this mom-slash-governor-slash-vice presidential candidate.
"I've heard people say we don't want someone just like us we want someone more presidential. That's where people come from. That's what America is and I think that she's a woman capable and competent," said Kate Diemidio of Scranton.
"I love hearing what she has to say. You know, women power! I don't know, you know, go!" said Jacki Dibello.
Workers are getting Riverfront Sports Complex ready so thousands of people can hear what Palin has to say Tuesday.
They know she has a lot of critics but that doesn't bother them.
"They're going after her cause they're scared to be honest. In my opinion, you know, people went after Hillary really bad and they're really going after Sarah Palin but I don't agree with any of it. I think she's a wonderful woman and just what this country needs," added Jacki Dibello.
"They don't phase her, and they don't phase me. I think she's strong and going to make it through and I think that McCain and Palin will win," Diemidio added.
Tom Nichols, manager of the Riverfront Sports Complex, is dealing with non-stop phone calls and non-stop activity that started last week.
"The Obama campaign came in here Tuesday and the McCain campaign came in Thursday, both looking for spots," Nichols said.
He said one screen went up then came down. Now another's going up.
"I't been really kind of neat to see and you know, we had Obama in April and now these guys this time around. It's been interesting to see the whole process and see people getting excited about the upcoming election," Nichols added.
There are still tickets available for Palin's rally Tuesday. Doors open at the Riverfront Sports Complex at 11 a.m. Those who run the sports complex are hearing that singer Lee Greenwood will be there too to sing his song "Proud to be an American."

Isn’t this “Scranton Joe” Biden’s territory?! /sarc
The McCain campaign must know something we don’t know if they are spending so much time in Penn during these final three weeks.
Man, talk about going into harms way. Frist Philthadelphia, now this. You think coal crackers would have some class, not is North East PA. Two out of three now come from NY or NJ.
I hope she drops by Dunder-Mifflin.
Hey Palin, just bring up what Biden said about coal two weeks ago.
“No coal!!!”
Another article from a local paper that says crowd was more like 3,000, not the 6,000 estimate.
Take a drive from Moosic ta Plimit on Route 11 and den ya can tell us ya still tink everyone's from NY, henna?
It has been a mystery to me why the polls are not showing more female support for Sarah Palin, I find it hard to believe that she will not budge at least a respectable portion of that Demographic on Election Day.
One wonders why the mainstream media expects to be trusted on complex things when they hire illiterate reporters. Faze and phase are homophones with rather different meanings.
Jack
Nice!
Thank you!
Is 6,000 the max for that venue?
This is great thank you.
On Fox News Channel now. Lee Greenwood singing the national anthem.
