Ex-Official: Palin Lied, Threw Me Under Bus Fired by Palin, Walt Monegan Says He Wants to Clear His Good Name By JUSTIN ROOD

October 14, 2008—

The man at the center of the Sarah Palin "Troopergate" scandal says the Alaska governor lied about him, and he wants his reputation back.

Last month, Palin called her former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan "insubordinate" and accused him of having had a "rogue mentality" while he was part of her administration. She leveled those charges in a filing to the state Personnel Board, justifying her dismissal of Monegan.

Now Monegan has formally complained about those accusations to the same panel, and is asking its members to hold a fact-finding hearing "to clear his good name, remove the stigma he has suffered, and redress his reputational interests."

The board is investigating the Troopergate affair, in which Palin is accused of firing Monegan for his refusal to take action against Mike Wooten, a state trooper once married to Palin's sister, whom the Palins long accused of misbehavior.

Last Friday the state Legislature completed its own review of the matter, finding that Palin violated state ethics laws by allowing her husband to use her office to bring pressure on state employees regarding her long-running animosity towards her sister's trooper ex-husband.

It also concluded that Monegan's refusal to fire Wooten "was not the sole reason" but was "likely a contributing factor" to his firing.

Monegan called Palin's charges against him "absurdly baseless," filled with "disturbing inaccuracies" and "distortions of the record" in filings to the board submitted Monday.

Well Walt...people like me want to know why you would keep a state trooper on the payroll given his list of wrong behavior to put it mildly.
That in itself shows what poor judgment you possess and shows how little regard you actually had for public safety.
That there is the rub bub....you disqualified yourself for the job.

If he was fired because he didn’t relieve a trooper who had made death threats, drank in his patrol car, and tasered a child, well, good. What a strange concept of “ethics” we have in this land, in which the union employee is allowed to behave in such a manner, but pressure to get rid of him is unethical.

If he had any other agenda than trying to ruin her and make her lose the election, he would wait for his cry fest until after the election. As it is, he is confirming why she fired him. He is an insubordinate jerk and the All Bull Crap network is enabling him.

Walt, she tried to spare you with the stock “moving in a new direction” explanation. You are the one who forced her to give more substantial reasons for firing you, which she has. Don’t ask for something you don’t want.

“The man at the center of the Sarah Palin “Troopergate” scandal says”

I don’t care what he says. If the guy wouldn’t fire a dangerous and erratic State Trooper, then he didn’t belong in office. I will bet Monegan’s real gripe was that he didn’t want to work for Palin. And now he isn’t.

The Democrats just want to keep this story going. That’s why Monegan is out running his pie hole.

I agree. Palin should not run away from this, she should take pride in this. A bad trooper was not fired for doing really bad things because of their union.

As a former Alaska Dem official said ‘what did the guy have to do, kill someone?’

Funny, the report said that she didn't "actually" violate any laws, but that what she did was unethical anyway...

Interesting spin by an idiot that obviously didn't bother to read the report...

a state trooper once married to Palin's sister, whom the Palins long accused of misbehavior.

So, tasering a stepchild is just misbehavior? If I had a kid and tasered him I would go to jail for a long time.

Another hit piece. I wonder how much money ABC paid Wooten for his prized quotes.

I know his type. He’s a male chauvenist
who couldn’t handle having a woman boss and take orders from her.Unfortunately, in this day in age, there’s still men out there with that mentality. Had it happen to me in my own business, and they forget who they get their paychecks and raises from. You cannot change them so you need to weed out those bad apples.
