Daily "Pray for America and McCain/Palin" Thread (10-14-08)

America has been greatly blessed by God and has stood as the greatest country in the history of the world for over 200 years. America has many foreign and domestic enemies that are seeking her destruction.

This thread is a daily call and reminder for people of faith who believe in God and in the power of prayer to make a commitment to intercede for America at this critical time in her history

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

David built an altar to the LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the LORD answered prayer in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.

if we stay faithful in prayer and intercede for america as king david interceded for israel, we will see God's answer.

I post here the prayer of Thomas Jefferson:

Who has given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will.

Oh no! I see great minds think alike! I am sorry, I too posted this prayer a minute ago, before I read the thread...sorry for the double. But, maybe not. Maybe we need to hear it and pray it more than once!

How about this declaration for a day of Prayer and fasting for the election. I know many of us are already doing a day time fast...but, what about this, at the urging of John Adams:

Also, Almighty God, my father and savior, I pray to you, in the name of your son, and by the authority given me, as a believer in your son; I come before you and plead with you, to hear our prayers. Remember us, your children, Father. Have mercy upon us who trust in you.

Lord in the name of Jesus, your son, I pray that you would not punish this nation as a whole for the sins of the Democratic Party and Barack Obama. May you please hold them accountable for the judges they put in place, and for the abortion laws they write and defend. Let the blood of the aborted children, be on their heads. Hold them accountable for the pornography, and homosexuality and other sexual perversion that they defend. Let them suffer your anger and your punishments. Deliver your people from likewise suffering this judgement. Deliver the United States of America, for your name's sake. Deliver her from these Democratic leaders who lead our children into sin and unrighteousness. Rid this nation of these leaders; those who remove your praise from our public places, and who provide for and protect great wickedness in your name. Punish them, Lord. Yet cover us in your blood, and deliver us out of their hand. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness, our lord and savior, I pray.

I pray Lord, that you would answer the prayer of Barack Obama, that he wrote on a slip of paper and put in the wailing wall. He asked for protection...I also pray that his family would be protected from violence. But, he also prayed that you would humble him. Please answer that prayer Lord; humble him in defeat. Defeat in the debate, and defeat in the election. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that you would likewise answer his prayer that he be used as an instrument of your will...to cleanse this nation of selfserving lying politicians. Use him to winnow out the chaff in his party, by exposing the illegal, unethical and unChristian activity they are involved in. Reveal and expose the true nature of Mr. Obama’s Islamic background. Reveal and expose the truth about his feelings for Israel; and the American Military. Expose then publicize these truths and the truth about his feelings on the fall of wall street, and his plans for the promotion of the Black Liberation theology. Expose the words and actions that he is trying so hard to hide. Let photos and videos that he never knew were taken, be brought out in the public exposing the truth of his islamic past and all other things that would cause him political death. Let what he whispers in the dark, be exposed in the light of day. Defeat Mr. Obama, using the thing he has the most pride in...his own tongue. In Jesus Holy Name I pray,

Father God,

You Are the Maker, the Bountiful, the Redeemer of mankind. We praise Your infinite Presence and mercy, Lord of Lords!

Lord God, Your faithful earnestly lift up our troubled nation for healing. You alone know every fiber of our past, our present and our future as a nation. You alone can trace the “progress” from a God-fearing land to a haven for hedonists and prevaricators.

Drive the worship of the Golden Calf from our midst, we pray.

Restore real truth to the hearts of all those in authority over us. Drive out the spirit of the legalistic slice of truth, the results-oriented truth, the commercial spirit that perception-is-truth. Establish the longing and the demand for absolute truth once again in the hearts of your people.

Lord, we earnestly pray for the fate of freedom in this election. May Your people overwhelm the polls. May they come understanding the threat of allowing untruth to gain a deeper foothold.

Even when the Prince of the Air has lied continually, fooled the people and created chaos, You can turn it all aside through Your divine power and grace. In You we place our trust.

Establish the pathways in safety of all Your people to do Your work,

Holy and Righteous God,

We acknowledge You are King---immortal, invisible, God always wise. You are the fount of every blessing for every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. You have every resource in the Universe at Your fingertips, Father, and You reign over all Creation. We are Your people---the sheep of Your pasture. We come before You in praise and thanksgiving, confessing You as Lord.

Father, we find ourselves in need of Your mighty hand upon America. Those who oppose us are great and we cannot win this battle without You. The heart and soul of America are at stake, and we long for a victory that only You can bring.

We pray mightily and passionately for John McCain tonight, Father, seeking Your tremendous wisdom and discernment for him. May You give him a mouth to speak tonight, Lord, and may He speak only those words You want him to put forth. We ask You to bring clarity of thought and purpose to him, and pray that You would help him to see that this is a battle with far greater consequences than any he has ever fought before. Give him a vision of Your armies of angels who stand watch and are ready to defend him. Father, we humbly pray that You would help him to find favor with the American voters and that You would increase their confidence in him. Lord, we confess that NOTHING is too difficult for You.

We pray for fair analysis and reporting of the debate. We pray that Senator McCain’s responses would uncover new truths and would bring glory and honor to You. And we pray for hearts to be swayed by his honesty, his leadership, and his love for his country.

Father, help Sarah Palin to stand strong in You and in the power of Your might. Make her to dwell in the shadow of Your wings so that she can continue to do the work You have set before her.

We pray for our President, Father, that You would embolden him to make wise choices on behalf of the American people and that You would give him the courage to speak out against all evil. We pray that our troops would stand strong in defense of this nation and of the Iraqi and Afghani people. May the door be opened so that the Gospel may be freely preached and shared in their land.

Lord, we are unable to win without You. We seek Your very best for America, and we pray that all plots and schemes to deny fair elections would be thwarted. Visit us in a mighty way, Father, for our trust and our hope is in You. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
