Doug Kmiec went to mass, as usual, at Our Lady of Malibu on Tuesday morning. Then he drove up the hill to his office to talk to me by phone about how a Republican Catholic opposed to abortion could endorse Barack Obama. You may recognize Kmiec's name. He teaches at Pepperdine University in California now, but he's a Chicago guy.

Obama talked ... the cost, in lives and dollars, of the Iraq War.
This seems to be where some supposed Catholics, including some of the Traditionalist variety, have gone off the rails. They've gotten the notion that the Iraq front in the war on islamic terrorism is somehow unjust (in the Just War sense of the word), and gone from there to opposing Pres. Bush with a Code Pink level of ferocity. Supporting 0bama is just more of the same insanity.
He is totally overcome with himself and has no real grasp of God’s commandments. He may very well hear: “Depart from me you worker of inquity, I NEVER KNEW YOU.!!”
Unfortunately you guys lose. He worked in the Reagan administration, has been considered a leading pro-life Constitutional scholar, and was supporting Romney this year.
Its the Dem Catholics voting for Mcain that should be in the news.
Forgive me my cynicism, folks. I concluded a few months ago that he’s angling for a judgeship.
I will take a guess at his excuse “at least Biden is Roman Catholic God”. Obama is about as opposite as you can get with Reagan/pro-life platform. His reasoning skills are out of phase.

As a kid growing up in the South I was always told that Catholics didn’t really practice their faith. How, of course, I know it’s just that some don’t and that paints all the rest. People like Kennedy, Biden etc. make all Catholics look bad.
In 1992 in his acceptance speech Bill Clinton said, “Make no mistake about it. We’re pro-choice. No pro-abortion.” And that same statement makes this guy vote for Obama?
