An eastern Idaho woman whose boyfriend impregnated her 9-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Isabel Chasarez, 27, must serve at least one year in prison before she is eligible for parole, 7th District Judge Brent Moss ordered Tuesday at the sentencing hearing.

The average age of first menstruation has been decreasing over the last century presumably due to better nutrition, better medical care and estrogen-like compounds in food. Now, it is not uncommon for girls to get their first period between ages 9 and 10.
Someone I know who is a medical missionary in Guatemala told me about how it happens so often, especially in the mountain villages where the people are not very educated and do not even understand the concept of "germs". Then they wonder why penning up the pigs near the village well means everyone gets sick...

Shame is a good thing. People who are capable of feeling shame are often protected from being in situations that will prove harmful. I remember when just saying “shacking up” was shameful. Nowadays, though, the world is our smorgasbord.

I dunno the details, but what did HE get as a sentence?.............Life, I hope..............
The average age of menarche, however, still somewhat over 12. The factor most highly correlated with early puberty is obesity, and looking at the mother, we can reasonably assume the child is also (ahem) large-framed.
Poor child. I hope that she and her baby have been placed for adoption far, far away from this monstrous woman.
