I was thinking that myself, especially in a time when we are going through a recession. But it should be fairly obvious to most observant people that the "rich" are getting crushed the drops in the stock markets.

Bullseye. THE fundamental problem in our country today.

And, much of that is based on envy. God knew what he was doing with those Commandments.

You're right. It is a huge problem. I wish they could see that even socialism doesn't quite capture his intentions.

That's the problem...it sounds good. In practice, it is devastating.

Actually, I think the problem is half of those half don’t realize it. Or they’ve been bought and sold on noneconomic issues.

I don’t know Democrats who’d prefer to pay more taxes. In fact, I know damn few who even give to charity. They want to keep what is theirs, yet go right on moving leftward like lemmings.

Bingo. I tell people I'm against Obama because he's a socialist, and they look at me like, "yeah so"?

I'd move that up to 60%. Worst part this percent lives in the states that have the majority of the electoral votes. Looks like very sad for McCain. I really believe Obama is a communists because of his socialist attitude and oppression by force of anyone that opposes him.

Yep: it still shocks me but after teaching political science for 47 yrs. and watching colleagues brainwashing kids on college campuses throughout, I guess I can say, ‘the chickens are coming home to roost.’ The public seems to be ignorant on what socialist pacifism is and that is BHO but they seem to hate W, the GOP, Wall St. so much, common sense just flies out the window.

The alternative is hard work, sacrifice and saving...not exactly an Obama campaign promise for free, free, free...

The Protestant work ethic that permeated the first 200 years of America and that has extended into later groups who came here to work very hard, pay your fair share of taxes and when times get lean, work harder.

There was no welfare before LBJ.

This election will be, as much as anything, a referendum on the effectiveness of “public education” over the past thirty years versus the strength of the traditional American family.

I’m praying that the dems (read communists) have played their card four years too early. If, by God’s grace, 0bama is defeated we will have in DC a real American family, complete with challenges and how to overcome them, who will serve as an example of what the true American spirit can be.

Four years may be enough time to reverse the morally downward spiral our Country has been in since early 90’s.

Which is exactly what the Brits thought when they kicked out the hero Churchill and the conservative party after WWII.

The Brits at the time wanted their National Health Care. They got it. Now they can't get rid of it.

You are probably about right and it really is strange! Very few people think cancer sounds like a good thing and the survival rate for people with cancer is much higher than the survival rate for countries afflicted by long term socialism!

The problem is half of Americans think socialism sounds like a good thing.

Then the time for conservatives to prepare for the worst is now. We need to stock up while we still can and while we can still afford it. Replace the word "socialism" with "rationing" because that is what it really is.

The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, But the naive go on, and are punished for it. Proverbs 22:3

Right, and every last one of them thinks that when Obama says 'spread the wealth around', that they'll be on the receiving end of the sharing and spreading. Few want to believe they will be on the sharing end, yet most of us will, regardless what he says. I can't believe the folks who seem to think socialism (at least in part) is good, that it 'just wasn't done right', even when presented with the obvious failures of socialism around the world in recent decades.
