Palin's Failin' (Noonan Barf Alert)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 10/17/08 | Peggy Noonan

Posted on 10/16/2008 10:11:33 PM PDT by acsuc99

But we have seen Mrs. Palin on the national stage for seven weeks now, and there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office. She is a person of great ambition, but the question remains: What is the purpose of the ambition? She wants to rise, but what for? For seven weeks I've listened to her, trying to understand if she is Bushian or Reaganite—a spender, to speak briefly, whose political decisions seem untethered to a political philosophy, and whose foreign policy is shaped by a certain emotionalism, or a conservative whose principles are rooted in philosophy, and whose foreign policy leans more toward what might be called romantic realism, and that is speak truth, know America, be America, move diplomatically, respect public opinion, and move within an awareness and appreciation of reality. But it's unclear whether she is Bushian or Reaganite. She doesn't think aloud. She just . . . says things. Her supporters accuse her critics of snobbery: Maybe she's not a big "egghead" but she has brilliant instincts and inner toughness. But what instincts? "I'm Joe Six-Pack"? She does not speak seriously but attempts to excite sensation—"palling around with terrorists." If the Ayers case is a serious issue, treat it seriously. She is not as thoughtful or persuasive as Joe the Plumber, who in an extended cable interview Thursday made a better case for the Republican ticket than the Republican ticket has made. In the past two weeks she has spent her time throwing out tinny lines to crowds she doesn't, really, understand.

Peggy Noonan will be the first to kiss Sarah Palin’s butt if she is elected the VP.

What possesses these ‘republicans’ when in the late moments of the worst possible election we can all imagine as Republicans, they turn towards their own troops and empty their clips?

With all the things they could be writing about exposing the incredibly duplicity, hypocrisy, disingenuousness and violent hysteria emanating from the Obama campaign, they can’t find anything to shoot at in that (incredible understatement to follow) target rich environment?

Are we supposed to just burn Sarah Palin at the stake because she isn’t intellectually up to the standard of the Upper West Side? Maybe we should just kick her out of the party or demand that she resign from the Governors office in Juneau since she obviously isn’t mentally up to the job of running our largest energy producing state. Or maybe she should just shoot herself to please these backstabbing weasals.

A lot of these pundits are going to have to answer for these columns in a few weeks whether we win or lose. And if we lose, they aren’t going to be able to say ‘I told you so’ because we’ll be saying ‘We told you we don’t need any more enemies, goodbye’. We don’t get actual advise of value from these people like Andrew Sullivan, David Brooks, Peggy Noonan or Christoper Buckley so we do we need to tolerate they displeasure with us?

I think we simply need to allow them to wander into the wilderness and without the label ‘Republican’ they will have no worth to the media who hire them and they will cease to exist in the debate (as if they do currently).

wow, what an brainful of conservative blather. She is way too smart for her own good, hence her antipathy towards a woman with loads of commonsense and experience standing up to corruption. Who cares if Sarah is a Reaganite or a Bushite! She is her own person for God’s sakes. Peggy, get out of you head and stop trying to sound so smart because you are coming off as a small person.

She went to fairleigh dickinson? What a total joke it was known as “Fairly Ridiculous University” back then.

Noonan is another sorry New jersey trollop trying desperately to be queen of the ball. She’s a zero.

Exactly what I thought reading this and many of Peggy’s articles over the last year!

She’s watching too much Desperate Housewives or soap operas and it is showing in her Friday journals!!

Women vs. Women are much worse than Man vs. Man!

Noonan you ignorant slut!

You are a disgrace to the American Conservative movement. Ronald Reagan would rebuke you. You have lost everything. If you ever had it.

I have also watched Sarah Palin for seven weeks. I, for one, can’t get enough of her, and not just because she’s gorgeous. She is also a terrific speaker, who has the right right core values and beliefs and the common sense rationality to explain them. She will make a terrific VP and, someday, a terrific President.

I never liked Peggy Noonan. Reading her is like watching the Lifetime Channel, only less intellectually stimulating.

“Ben Stein contributes to Franken?.....unbelievable....”

#####

$2000.00. “Because he is an old friend”.

That’s what I read anyway. I wish someone would prove me wrong.

This horseshit from the heavily promoted featured columnist of the bellwether conservative magazine American Spectator.

I’m with you on the grudge thing...

Noonan, go fly a kite. Sarah is twice the person, you will ever be. These De-M-O-RATS are above and beyond control. Peace be with you, please don't say things about others, you would not want said about you.

Noonan is one of many who made a comfortable living off of Ronald Reagan and his memory. Of course any distinction she has enjoyed has been at his expense. Because she would be nothing if he had not hired her as a speechwriter for a while almost 25 years ago.

But she has essentially sucked that for all she could and now she has grown too sophisticated and too erudite for us commoners out here in flyover country. But really, Noonan never really understood the reason why people loved Reagan.

Noonan's smug attitude really came out about four years ago. She has been going steadily downhill since then. She probably knows that her shelf life has expired and she's living off borrowed time. Fortunately, she and her ilk will be forgotten before long.

I would think politicians who are trying to get elected are doing one thing and one thing only ,trying to persuade people to vote for them. The Gettysburg address is best reserved for Gettysburg. I think Palin can do both.

What can Noonan do?
