The McCain campaign, today unhappy about the attention Joe the plumber is getting, has been running against the press off and on for a while, and the hostility from some supporters to the press does seem to be getting more intense.
As usual, anecdotes are just that. But this one, from a reporter working on a piece for the Greensboro News-Record, stands out. He writes that he wandered to the back of a Palin event to talk to some protesters:
I sidled up to one of the Obama supporters and asked why they were there, what they were trying to accomplish.
As he was telling me a large, bearded man in full McCain-Palin campaign regalia got in his face to yell at him.
“Hey, hey,” I said. “I’m trying to interview him. Just a minute, okay?”
The man began to say something about how of course I was interviewing the Obama people when suddenly, from behind us, the sound of a pro-Obama rap song came blaring out of the windows of a dorm building. We all turned our heads to see Obama signs in the windows.
This was met with curses, screams and chants of “U.S.A” by McCain-Palin folks who crowded under the windows trying to drown it out and yell at the person playing the stereo.
It was a moment of levity in an otherwise very tense situation and so I let out a gentle chuckle and shook my head.
“Oh, you think that’s funny?!” the large bearded man said. His face was turning red. “Yeah, that’s real funny…” he said.
And then he kicked the back of my leg, buckling my right knee and sending me sprawling onto the ground.
Is this the Onion?
I like pushing and blocking the Drive-by reports at rallies. It’s fun.

The McCain campaign loves the attention Joe the Plumber is getting.
Sure, I believe this like I believe someone shouted kill him. Even if it is true it is one person, out a crowd of thousands, over whom the McCain campaign has no control. Where were the SS during this incident. Notice how the media pukes always portray themselves as just good natured journalists trying to do a job.
Lets see the police report.
Just wait til the real assaults take place. This? BS. Also, I can’t honestly believe for one minute that anyone changes a vote because of this sort of “news story”.
to think I sued to think politico was alright a couple of months ago but they have gone right for obama and have become another mouth piece for obama
That’s twice in 15 minutes that I’ve seen something alluding to the fact that McCain/Palin have soured on “JTP.”

I didn’t post this, but if you really want to get jazzed about Joe Plumber spin, read this:
It’s a reporter, so the chances are that the report is a lie. Until he can prove his assertion in court, I’m going to assume it’s a lie.
If the reporter was talking face-to-face with the Obama supporter, and the McCain guy came up and started talking face-to-face with the Obama supporter, how did the McCain guy manage to get behind the reporter to kick him in the back of the leg? Is he Plastic Man or what?
Oh? I hadn't heard anything about this, and would be surprised if it were true.
I don't believe the story about the reporter being assaulted either.
I don’t believe it. This guy planted this big guy there, so he could get a story that would be of interest to more than his regular four or five readers.
