the old war horse must believe there will be a stall for him in Obama’s war horse stable, but he will be out to pasture if McCain is elected

God knows this counry will need war horses when Obamites screw up the world with their screwy fell-good naive views of international relations and diplomacy, their shame at being American, and their near-total lack of understanding of the military

Is this what Andrea Mitchell referred to as Obie’s upcoming bipartisan admin?

SoS in two admins?

Absolutely serious. Colin Powell has seen the evils of communism first hand. He would never endorse someone who plans to “spread the wealth”, communist style.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Colin Powell endorsing McCain would go over great with the squishy middle voters who get to decide this election. And someone else has already pointed out that (1) Powell has already given $2,300 to McCain, nothing to Obama and (2) Powell has said before that Obama is not qualified to be President.

I highly doubt he would give money to a guy he wants to lose.

This is a non-announcement announcement. When he makes the announcement, that is “news”.

Meanwhile the PUMAs are ignored by the Obamapravda media.

Why shoudn’t Powell support Osama. After all The Anointed One once courageously considered joining the Army as a “yute” whereas McCain only served as a Navy officer for....how many years?

Yet another reason why I suspect Powell will endorse McCain, to be added as a third reason to (1) his giving McCain $2,300 and Obama not a dime and (2) his saying previously that Obama was not qualified to be President.

I knew about the $2,3000 contribution to McCain, but not his comment that Obama is not qualified to be POTUS.

I went to find Powell's exact comment, and could not locate it. And I did find one example from July of this year where Powell described both Obama and McCain as qualified. So I guess I was mistaken. If so, my apologies to all.

I’d be surprised if he didn’t. Big whoop.

I would be delighted, should you be correct. However, his opportunity to vote for a black president, will overwhelm his reason. Just like J.C. Watts. They can't help it.

I wonder if there’s any basis to the Powell rumors other than the assumption that he will endorse the black guy?

Since Powell has already donated to McCain, he’ll have to come up with some justification for the switch - I imagine he’d blame all the “dirty campaigning” or some such nonsense.

That’s okay. Still, if you follow the money and also remember that Powell is a military man who regards McCain as a longtime friend (I read or heard that somewhere as well), I’m cautiously optimistic that he will do the right thing. Of course, anything is possible.

The only basis I know of was some off-the-cuff comment by Bill Kristol, who also famously predicted that Powell would speak at the Democratic convention.

I'm not sure I believe it either:

Donor: Colin Powell

Contribution: Q3/2007 John McCain $2,300

George W. Bush, Cheney and Paulson should join Powell and endorse Obama.

When did J C Watts endorse Obama? I know he endorsed Huckabee in the primaries, but other than that, he has donated to McCain, not Obama.

I know I read that somewhere, too! But that’s the dangers of the Internet. Just because I read it doesn’t mean it was accurate. If it was, I likely would have found a quote resembling it by now. Mea culpa.

Even though Colin is a RINO, I will be very, very, very upset if he does endorse Obama. It will prove that Race trumps ideology for most African-Americans.

Bob Novak was also predicting a Powell endorsement of Obama around the Dem convention. (I DID just see this again while searching for my phantom quote!) :)
