Pelosi: Money is Dems’ only obstacle By Alexander Bolton Posted: 10/17/08 03:30 PM [ET]

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says Democrats will expand their majority to 250 seats in the House next year and might have gone further if the party had more money.

Pelosi’s stunning claim to talk show host Charlie Rose — that resources are the only obstacle holding the party back in the fall elections — is surprising given that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has raised $120 million, or nearly $30 million more than the House Republican fundraising committee.

“I have many more races I could win if I had endless money, but I budgeted for a certain amount. We’re right on target for that. And, you know, say, for example, if it would be a net of 250, I can afford that. There’s more opportunity than that,” Pelosi said in her interview with Rose on Oct. 16.

When Rose asked the Speaker if Democrats could expand their majority beyond 250 with more money, Pelosi said: “Oh yes, definitely.”

Pelosi explained that the Democratic campaign committee will pour resources into a limited number of races because she does not want to “dilute the spending I have by going into more races.”

Pelosi also discussed her priorities for an expanded Democratic House majority, calling energy independence and global climate change her “flagship issue.”

What a narcissist. You don't often hear people use the word I so many times in one short sentence. She thinks she's the queen.

I, I, I, I, I...

Sheesh, this woman is at least as much of a megalomaniac as Obama. Can you imagine them both in power. Scary stuff...

Why is she budgeting with “her” money? She’s never budgeted with the taxpayers’ money.

Nazi should have borrowed some from “The One.” He has a half a billion bucks and there’s a lot more where that came from.

Not that Charlie Rose would have him on anyway, but did John Boehner even try to get on? I don’t care what Grammy Nancy says, but I do care what the Republicans aren’t saying. They have so many opportunities to go after the RATS on doing away with 401(k) tax breaks, prescription drug price controls and Murtha’s racism to name just a few issues, and, and, and...well nothing.

In a just world, the Democrat Party would have less money due to its reparations payments for slavery and Jim Crow, of which it was pretty much the sole driver, implementer and enforcer going back almost to the birth of our nation.

No existing institution in America has its bloody fingerprints over the crime scene of slavery and Jim Crow, with no alibi, as does the Democrat Party. That is historical fact.

Most prominent Democrats favor America paying slavery reparations, whether they acknowledge it publicly or not (as many of them have).

So when you hear how much money the Democrats have, just remember that when push comes to shove, they aren't stepping the plate to pay what they owe. But they support forcing others, who have no connection with slavery whatsover, to foot the bill, all the while condemning our entire great nation for the crimes they themselves committed.

Come to think of it, it's kind of like Obama saying we're our brothers' keepers, and authoring Senate legislation to send $845 billion of OPM (Other People's Money) over ten years to a Global Poverty Fund -- and then it turns out he can't find $20 bucks a month in his own pocket to send to his destitute half-brother in Africa whom he has met.

Democrats. Gotta love 'em. But it would be easier if they weren't bent on reaching into our citizens' pockets to finance their Utopian social engineering agenda.

Glad to hear you make this argument.

I first heard it from Michael Medved.

If Black Americans had an inkling of the history of this country, they would know that the Democrats are their worst enemies, and that Frederick Douglass and Marting Luther King, Jr. were Republicans.
