In our humble opinion (endorsements)(“spread the wealth” fallout)

President:

Sen. Barack Obama is a fresh face in modern politics, but he may have immerged on the scene a little too soon. His contagious hopefulness no doubt inspired many young voters to enter democracy for the first time.

His impact on voter interest is unquestionable. How he might govern leaves most of us still scratching our heads. Obama’s recent announcement that he would “spread the wealth” sent chills down the spine of those who champion a capitalistic society, not a socialistic one.

On the flipside, Sen. John McCain is a known commodity, a lawmaker with decades of admirable public service and a sacrifice for his country, as a POW, that is unparalleled. The John McCain of 2008 doesn’t necessarily reflect the John McCain of 2000, when many Democrats would have gladly voted for him as president. But we feel that maverick is still there and earns our endorsement.

That "Spread the Wealth Around" comment is going to haunt Obama. It is resonating because every time the media and Obama latches onto it to try to debunk it it gets worse for them. The tide is turning not because of this endorsement but because of the message and because Obama has no way to effectively neutralize his own words and McCain now has a highly effectively message. Obama is going to spread your wealth around.

he will shrink the wealth. in the end he will have to tax the poor in order to pay for his programs. And if not directly, then indirectly through inflation.

Also he's going to have to spend informercial time on it, which wasn't originally planned, I'm sure.

" Obama has no way to effectively neutralize his own words "
In how ironic , ridiculous, and ludicrous Obama has become in how to tries to spin anything that is charged against him... he will say " That's not the Obama I once knew "

“Sen. Barack Obama is a fresh face in modern politics”

By which you mean nobody knew who the hell he was because he hadn’t accomplished anything.

I’m sick and tired of the MSM pretending as if Obama’s campaign set fire on the sky because his is an idealistic message, a message of hope. “Hope” is the least important aspect of his campaign. People do not respond to empty words. “Change,” on the other hand, is Obama’s bread and butter. His “change” is not the “change” of “hope,” it is an indictment of the Bush administration. It is entirely negative.

All campaigns balance the positive with the negative, but in the end they embrace the negative like a lover at the end of a hard day. Why? Negatives make sense to the public. Joe Voter doesn’t want to hear someone talk about how great they are. You can’t trust them to present an honest appraisal of themselves.

Obama is no different than any other candidate. If the MSM read a parody of the way they report Obama’s bright promise for the future in the form of an article praising McCain’s belief in the power of markets, or national service, or whatever the heck he believes in, they’d laugh like hyenas. They’d be right to laugh, because pretending as if someone who spends every waking hour reaching for the epicenter of American power is an idealist is hopelessly naive.

By the way, the youth vote never has and never will make a difference. Those people are occupied with something more important to them: their own lives.

Our local rag (Nashua (NH) Telegraph) announced breathlessly on the front page that they have made their endorsement for president. “See page B-2”. Wow, we wondered, who that would be? Surprise, surprise Sen Government. B section headed for the trash without further consideration.

Notice how the media calls Obama a “fresh face” but goes out of their way to dig up trash from Wasilla, AK on a sitting governor!
