On Colin Powell and his Endorsement of Barak Obama
N/A | 10-19-08 | Self

Posted on 10/19/2008 6:52:26 AM PDT by Anti-Bubba182

Colin Powell today revealed himself as a craven and slimy individual in endorsing Barak Obama. He is endorsing him on the real grounds of racial solidarity and not the Horse Manure he spread this morning about fixing infrastructure, Ayers, etc. And the conduct of the war and the UN not voting right is more scatology. He was for it before he was against it. We've heard it before. Powell was against the war and did not have the courage to go to the wall against it.

I understand his pride in the success of a fellow black, but detest a prevailing culture that instead of saying racism is wrong wherever it appears, says it is the fault of white people and allows any non-white group to pack up on racial lines and pursue racial grievances. Obama is a part of these groups, not that he will not deny the depth of the association when expedient.

Barak Obama is a creature of total cynicism. No matter how close or how much you have done for him expect to be thrown under the train when it suits him. Don't believe me, ask Rev. Wright and Rev. Jackson, hell, ask his Grandmother. A soldier should respect loyalty, especially when that loyalty costs. That is the kind of loyalty George Bush has, maybe to a fault, definitely to his political detriment. Powell can be certain his rewards under Obama will last exactly as long as it is good for Barak.

Colin Powell, unlike Obama, was in the highest echelon of the administration at the time of the decision to go to war. His strident opposition would have given pause to the process. If he thought the war and prevailing leadership was wrong he should have resigned and fought it and them for all he is worth. He might have prevailed. Instead he functioned like a lackey and bided his time to stab his long time, "friend" John McCain in the back.

I really don't know what Powell thinks he can acheive by this. He is never going to be a darling of the Obama crew or the racial grievance industry. Oh they will give him some public compliments but they probably look on him as an Uncle Tom trying to get back in with the, "brothers", especially after working for the Bush administration. He can never erase his association with the war or diminish his failure to oppose it to his best ability if he thought it was wrong.

Powell will go down in history as the first black Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff and Secretary of State marking him as a leading expert in bureaucratic survival and infighting, but not as a leader who fought the fight he should have.

Of course it’s racially motivated. Either that or Colin Powell has become a Socialist too, which wouldn’t surprise me.

In the end, these endorsements mean little.

Absolutely. All about race. As many prominent women will vote Republican for the first time because of Palin. I doubt that many will go into that booth and say...hmmmmmm...I guess I should pull this lever for Obama....Colin Powell is going to....paleeeeeez....anyone with any sense would know Powell would back Obama. I am personally disappointed...very disappointed...in Powell because I would have thought he would research the candidates a bit more than what his statement said. Just proves...because you had a previous position in our illustrious government does not necessarily mean you are brilliant...or even borderline intelligent. You are just a commoner who votes color. Colin Powell has been replaced on my hero list by Joe the Plumber.

Colin Powell is a racist. I think Sidney Portier got to him. He just moved out of the “house” and into the “field”.

I have never trusted Colin Powell and now I have no respect of his judgment. What are his loyalties?

No one stabbed both President Bush (father and son) more in the back with self-serving leaks to Bob Woodward. The man is the ultimate opportunist.

Yeah, SO DID BENEDICT ARNOLD! Don’t go there because Powell is supporting a man who will destroy this country and encourages our enemies. Israel will not be there in 4 yrs. We cannot afford 4 yrs. ourselves as Russia and China along with the terrorists will pounce on the antichrist’s election.

First thing out of Powell’s mouth was it wasn’t about race.
The only two reason’s I can think about Powell’s endorsement are:

1. It is about race
2. Powell wants a cush job in a Obama administration.

Why else would a moderate support a socialist?

Gen. Powell served his country with honor and distinction.

So did Benedict Arnold.

Gen. Powell has earned the right to his opinion. He’s spent most of his adult life in service to his country. His decision to support a candidate with whom we disagree does not change the fact that Gen. Powell served his country with honor and distinction.

Well said.

Excellent assessment...thanks for posting it. Blacks/African-Americans, or what whatever they want to be called these days, have the gall to call us racists. Martin Luther King would be appalled at the state of race relations in this country today - it's not about CHARACTER afterall - it is still about the color of one's skin according to the blacks.

I saw Powell speak about a year ago as part of a local lecture series. He seemed greatly concerned about his legacy. He seemed to want to be congratulated for having the “right” opinions, and to be loved by the mostly liberal audience in attendance.

This is a terminal disease, I’m afraid.

They are already a sham but, there may be more awareness that is so. White people are cowed into living as if they have or are not entitled to have racial interest, while all other races play the game with a vengeance.

Powell wove points talking all through Meet the Press about the unfair practices of McCain's campaign and said nothing about Obama's thugs. He denied race is his prime motive for the endorsement but the reasons he gave for it are so weak AND one sided they are not credible.

A Bush Sr and Reagan hire

He's an affirmative action hire; much like B. Hussein Obama has been over these many years.

This is part of the problem with affirmative action hires -- poor performance and, perhaps, a nursing of grievance for in someway realizing that he didn't get their by anything resembling ability.

There’s a strong case for this being solely race based because on foreign policy(something you’d think Powell would concern as #1) Obama is a real endangerment to this country. We are still fighting terrorists and dealing with Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, oh and Russia and China(where our enemies are bolstered). Russia and China have their own ambitions that will be taking place with and Obama at the helm. Powell has sold his soul. He’s taking America with him.

Think about it...

WHAT KIND OF GENERAL LEADS A COUNTRY - AND OUR SERVICEMEN - INTO WAR and then deserts them?

The WORST kind.
