Pushed to meet daily quotas and bullied by bosses if they didn't, Ohio ACORN workers faked voter registrations, signed up people more than once, and even paid off registrants to keep from being fired, its canvassers told The Post.
"Every day, there was pressure on us. Every single day," said Teshika Elder, a Cleveland single mom of three who worked for ACORN this summer.
"We had meetings every morning where they'd go over your quota; they'd yell at you if you were low," said Elder, 21. "They'd sit us down and say if you didn't do better, they'd suspend you. They'd say, 'Try harder next time,' [and] if you didn't get it, you'd be fired."
Desperate canvassers sometimes resorted to trading cigarettes, cash and food in exchange for registrations, according to Elder and two other former ACORN workers, Jaymes Sanford, 18, and Selvin Cunningham, 23.
Some voters were signed up more than once, and said that worried - or lazy - canvassers sometimes filled out bogus cards.
The three workers were all fired after they and a dozen other canvassers were identified in a Cuyahoga County Election Board probe as having turned in multiple registrations for the same voters.
The board, which estimates it got more than 8,700 suspect cards - with multiple registrations, bad addresses or phony information - from ACORN has turned the matter over to local prosecutors.
"It was just little stuff - a dollar, a cigarette - given to people so that they'd register," said Sanford, a former team leader.
"People are scared of not making their quotas," he said. "I didn't do it, but it's the way it worked."

Depressing to see what we are becoming.
Wow! What kind and gentle people libs are/s.
This smells to high heaven. If they feel intimidated....then it's time to find another job. I'm sure they don't make much more than the local burger joint offers. Nothing is worth sacrificing your integrity and morals.
Wait until Barack Hussein Odingo is POTUS.
We ain’t seen nothing yet.
You don’t mean “We” you mean “They”.
Quotas are all these people know about, just like in Communist Russia.
commissars
True. I was referring to “we” as all Americans and the direction the country seems to be taking.
“Nothing is worth sacrificing your integrity and morals.”
You have to have integrity and morals to sacrifice.
Exactly.
I suspect that Obama expects to get full value for what he paid for. And he paid nearly a million dollars for a get out the vote by an ACORN subsidiary. Is anyone so naive as to believe he will not be as hard nosed with the American taxpayers if he is elected?
The burger joint would expect results too. And if these people are too lazy or stupid to do their jobs right for ACORN, do you REALLY want them preparing your food?
Were these people arrested under RICO? I doubt it.
Perhaps an ‘investigation’ next year under Obama
will find there was nothing here at all.
“I suspect that Obama expects to get full value for what he paid for. And he paid nearly a million dollars for a get out the vote by an ACORN subsidiary. Is anyone so naive as to believe he will not be as hard nosed with the American taxpayers if he is elected?”
This one’s unprincipled and ruthless approach to power is truly out of a political thriller. The fourth estate has betrayed this country by not exposing this scoundrel for what he is, a tyrant in the making. The people aiding and abetting him now are in for a shock if he takes power. He will treat them no better than he will the rest of us.
ACORN is supposed to be a non-partisan association, at least that is what they claim they are. Then, supposedly, all these months, and in all the states where they have worked, they should have been registering voters regardless of their party affiliations.
So why are the ACORN people so concerned about the investigations of their registration results? An investigation would reveal false registrations of people of both parties, it would seem. Therefore, ACORN should not be so upset. They should even welcome an investigation that would throw out fraudulent registrations of Democrat and Republican citizens alike.
Unless, as it is appearing, ACORN only produced Democrat registrations. Then that would expose them as being a very partisan group, indeed.
Therefore: Is ACORN actually a partisan Democrat association whose only goal is to elect Obama as President? Is that why they claim the Republicans are trying to silence voters?
Or, is ACORN or a truly non-partisan group, as they purport, that would have no problem with nullifying suspicious registrations of both parties?
Fighting the investigations in all states where ACORN applied their voter registration efforts, and trying to smear the GOP and McCain supporters with claims of voter suppression only makes ACORN appear more guilty of partisan efforts of their members and largely in favor of the Democrats.
So which was is it? They cant have it both ways! And I think we at the FR know exactly the answer, but the media is missing this point. Someone needs to emphasize this obvious contradiction of ACORNs reaction to the investigations and publicly call ACORN's bluff.
Obama is not an African American. He is an Arab Muslim. Colin Powell? He is owned by the Saudis.
Sadly the only guy who has it right in the African-American community is Pastor David Manning in Harlem. African-Americans are being taken for a ride. Mugabe destroyed Zimbabwe and now Libya owns it because he hocked it for oil. Obama and his cronies will sell out Christian Kenyans to Islam. Muslims in Africa is still practice slavery.
African Americans are being used by Wright, Frarakhan and Obama.
Everybody - Volunteer & Donate.
Make sure we are all at local McCain HQ helping out with GOTV the weekend before the election. If you are retired - volunteer now. Ignore the polls.
This is right out of the ‘Castro & Chavez’ playbook for undermining the voting process. They want government to totally control every aspect of your life, so they can ultimately control what you can and cannot do.
Wow, those nuts in ACORN are like union bosses.
