Station links for Laura's Show Link

John McCain in a phone interview on Laura Ingraham's morning show expressed great confidence in the direction of the campaign leading up to November 4.

The quote that stood out for me was the title of the thread. Laura and others have been in a panic, reading RCP averages and oversampled polls rather than looking at the direction these polls have been moving in the last week.

Good for him. Fight to the finish. This is very winnable.

With God’s Mercy, and a prayerful, repentant, and humbled people - yes, 0bama will never be in power.

Okay Senator, but stop saying that you are behind in the polls at -6 like you did yesterday.

Well, yeah, if he was as optimistic as she is, he would have conceded long before he named Sarah Palin.

This means nothing. No candidate will ever admit that he was going to lose two weeks before the election.

I think it’s better that McCain is more confident than I am.

Less talkie. More actie. McCain’s biggest leads were when he appealed to independents with a message of fiscal conservatism while being strong on defense. That was after his convention.

I’m not holding my breath given how long it took the McCain campaign to finally form a narrative on their plan for the economy with Joe the Plumber.

Half the battle is also pushing up Obama’s negatives so that undecideds break towards McCain as the safe choice. That’ll be McCain’s big challenge the next 2 weeks, especially given how its becoming a media talking point that Palin is inexperienced.

I’m not holding my breath for McCain but I hope he fights just so that we don’t have our filibuster swept away by an Obama sweep.

Jeez, I thought Laura had given up radio - she was replaced here in SA by Mike Gallagher (without notice to the listeners, he just showed up one Monday morning a few weeks ago), and I have to admit it’s a change for the better.

What else is he going say? “We’re probably going to lose ... but with dignity”?

Of course, he is going to predict a win.

So is Obama.

And Palin.

And Biden.

And all their respective handlers.

And many of those on FR.

To: WalterSkinner; All

Dole was 15-20 points down. Even the worst polls were not that bad for McCain a couple weeks ago.

Dole closed the gap, and if McCain can do so, it is still close enough he can win.

Now, there are reasons to be concerned. Often that last weekend makes it.

If undecideds choose to break for Obama that final weekend, McCain would lose. It could happen. It has happened before.

But, McCain could pull it out, and I think the ad buy here is so massive by Obama that people may be turned off by it.
