One of the most striking parts of Colin Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama was his accusation that Republicans have helped spread the rumor that Sen. Obama is Muslim, and turned the word into a smear. “I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion he’s Muslim and he might be associated with terrorists,” he said.
Some Republicans took umbrage at the comment, saying John McCain and Republicans haven’t directly made such an accusation. Jonah Goldberg, a writer for The National Review, said it was a “low and dishonest blow,” and asked: “Is there really much evidence that the GOP or the McCain campaign have had anything to do with the stories that Obama is a Muslim?”
It’s an important question, worth a detailed look.
First, Gen. Powell noted that Sen. McCain himself has never intimated that Sen. Obama is Muslim. And he’s right about that. Neither McCain nor his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have suggested such a thing, or even referred to their opponent by his full name, Barack Hussein Obama. At one point, the campaign fired a volunteer who had told voters that Sen. Obama is Muslim, and a recent video showed rank-and-file McCain supporters chastising an anti-Muslim McCainian.
Stoking the Rumor
Hillary Clinton arguably stoked the rumor more directly than McCain when she said during the primary that Sen. Obama wasn’t Muslim “as far as I know.”
What about the Republican Party itself? There’s no evidence that the national Republican Party has driven, coordinated or even overtly encouraged the Obama-is-a-Muslim line.

I don’t think O is a Muslim.

Why are they bringing this up again? The only ones fueling the rumor are the press by continually accusing the Republicans of fueling the rumor!
I have very little respect for Colin Powell, and his endorsement of Barack Obama simply cements that.
I appreciated and respected his service in the military, but when he went to the State Department, I saw him as I think he always was.
Then, his compliance in the Scooter Libby lynching just filled me with disgust. He could have spoken up at any time, since he KNEW Scooter Libby was innocent of what he was being prosecuted for, but instead, for political reasons, let him twist in the wind.
But most of all, what he did to his own boss and administration infuriated me. These things he did to people who trusted him and did everything they could to further his career. Colin Powell has since expressed in his conduct every grasping, back-stabbing, conniving, self-serving and duplicitious trait that have grown to detest in politicians.
It was the Obama campaign that did not allow Muslim women wearing head-scarfs to stand on a stage behind Obama. What does Powell have to say about that??
If he didn’t like his middle name, he could have changed it long ago. It is completely ridiculous that one must not speak his middle name. The “must not speak the name” stuff is usually reserved for the Divinity in some religions, but maybe that’s the point.
I don’t care if he is a Muslim or not, it is important to me to know if he is even a natural citizen and legally qualified to be president, aside from the fact that he is disqualified by lack of experience.
Pop quiz: Who said the words, “My Moslem faith”? Hint: It wasn’t a Republican.
If I had to pick either Moslem or Christian as Osama’s religion, I’d go for Moslem. No matter what he says, he doesn’t demonstrate the slightest hint of Christian faith.
But it doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter if he’s Moslem, doesn’t matter that he’s half-African. It matters that he’s an anti-American Marxist troll.
He picked the name out himself didn’t he?
Barack Hussein Obama, blessed be his name, is not a Muslim! and once he is declared Caliph any infidel who utters such blasphemy will be put to death!

I received the following e-mail insert a few days ago and initially thought it was a pro Obama news report... it was given as actually being one but have doubts about that but truth is often strange:

‘Walking Eagle’ Senator BARACK OBAMA was invited to address a major gathering of the American Indian Nation two weeks ago in upstate New York. HE spoke for almost an hour on HIS future plans for increasing every Native American’s present standard of living, should HE one day become the President. HE referred to his career as a Senator, how he had signed ‘YES’ for every Indian issue that came to his desk for approval.
Although the Senator was vague on the details of his plan, he seemed most enthusiastic about his future ideas for helping his ‘red sisters and brothers’. At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented the Senator with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name - Walking Eagle.
The proud Senator then departed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds.
A news reporter later inquired to the group of chiefs of how they came to select the new name given to the Senator.
They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.
Based on that I personally know of several potential nominees for Walking Falcons, Osprey and Sea Gulls....
Obama was born a muslim. Now he’s anything he tells the msm he is...no questions asked.
McCain should take note....
This is what you get when you entrust liberals with national security.
I predict Powell will resign or be fired within the first 6 months of his appointment to “whatever” position he just bought.
Obama admitted to Stuffingenvelopes that he was Moslem.
The ABC Overlord corrected him, and got him back on-agenda,
that he was “Christian” (at least until the voting was over).
