On January 21st, 2009 the documentary "Torturing Democracy" will air on PBS. It details "how the government set aside the rule of law" in its pursuit of harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists. PBS won't run it nationally until January 21, 2009. Scott Horton suspects that may be because PBS is afraid of political retaliation.
I wonder if this will have any bearing on the January 21/22 remarks powell made. I can see how this sort of "documentary" can inflame many factions - including the left vs right in this country if Obama decides he should prosecute it somehow. The implications are astounding.
I truly hope this is much ado about nothing.
But the fact of the matter is that these statements were made by Four-Star General and Former Secretary of State Colin Powell and five term United States Senator and Vice President nominee Joe Biden. It's not like we are trying to interpret Nostradamus and if they didn't want to worry the American people they should have keep their mouths shut.
