Is this so talk radio may go back to discussing carrot cake recipes?
Because for sure, the “Fairness Doctrine” will in no way expand the intellectual discussion of issues of importance.

Does that mean Conservatives could replace 50% of TV and Print "journalist"?
Put Stephie on the radio and Rush on ABC News?
To: paltz
Senator Bingaman can stick his ‘fairness’ doctrine where the sun don’t shine.

Bingamen is talking about more than just talk radio, he wants it to apply to “all media” in his answer to one question.

With today’s technology, the popular talk shows would just move to satellite, which is not subject to FCC regulation.
Radio stations would lose listeners, and would be the ones that suffer.
In St Louis, KMOX has already taken a big hit the last few years when they lost the Cardinal broadcasts. If they lose Rush, they will not even crack the top 10 with any demographic.
CBS owns that station, and it would almost be fitting if it is destroyed by jealous left wingers.

On NPR yesterday was a segment featuring youth essays on “How to start a Revolution”.
actually day before yesterday - I’m trying to find a transcript

‘Fairness Doctrine’ should be called the ‘OldMedia Protection and No Free Speech Act of 2009’

I guess they’re willing to give up MSNBC/ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN?
To: paltz
I know he isn't, but he should be talking about the msm networks’ and the press’ lack of fairness in their reporting. As it is, talk radio is the balance.

I think I might see a pony near this pile of manure.
If Bingaman is saying this publicly, it looks like he doesn’t care about any backlash or galvanizing conservatives. In other words, he is getting cocky and overplaying his hand. This is always how leftists lose. Let’s hope more liberals start being this honest about their intentions.

The First Amendment does not contain a “fairness doctrine”. It only guarantees your right to political speech, not guaranteed equal speech.

Sirius stock is selling for about .30, as in 30 cents. Might be time to invest - if this goes through, and I have no doubt with the chosen one and Nancy in charge that it will- Rush, Sean, and Mark may have to go to satelitte. At that time, I will buy a receiver since the mainstream media, as bad as they are now, will be worse- AP will stand for American Pravda.

Ya, herr radio person! First ve vill bring back ze Fairness Doctrine and zen ve vill pass ze Hate Crimes Laws making all of our OPPOSITION KNEEL AT OUR FEET UNT I...URK!....ZEIG, HEIL!!
To: paltz
If democrats bring back the ‘Fairness Doctrine’, will it apply to the msm, as well? Will their coverages be monitored for balance? And are conservatives ready to file suit in every case where the msm violates that ‘Fairness Doctrine?” If that ‘Fairness Doctrine’ is approved, every broadcast license of the msm should be challenged in court!
